Popular Post GrimeyKidd
Quote There remains a place on the Hawks for Dwight Howard, according to new general manager Travis Schlenk. The Hawks signed Howard to a three-year, $70.5 million deal as an unrestricted free agent last season. There are two years remaining on the contract after an up-and-down season that had the center on the bench in the fourth quarters of several close games, including the playoffs. “Listen, Dwight is one of the best big guys in the league still,” Schlenk told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “He averaged 13 points and 13 rebounds a game. He’s one of the best rebounders in the league. He’s one of the best rim protectors in the league. “I haven’t had a chance to talk to Dwight personally. We’ve exchanged some text messages. I certainly plan to talk to him soon and get to know him. I’m not going to judge you from what I’ve heard. Let me see you face-to-face.” Howard will make $23.5 million next season, the highest salary on the roster of signed players. Howard ranked fifth in the NBA at 12.7 rebounds per game and sixth at 940 total rebounds last season. He ranked 20th in the league with 1.2 blocks per game. “There is a reason Atlanta was one of the top five defenses in the league,” Schlenk said. “He was a big part of that.” Source: http://www.myajc.com/sports/basketball/schlenk-there-still-place-for-howard-with-hawks/5bVy61vYDbNtEvNIxIl3xI/

Premium Member Popular Post sturt Posted June 2, 2017 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted June 2, 2017 I see no way to do anything but accentuate the positive where Dwight is concerned. That's just me. Well... and the Colonel, evidently. Lemonade from the lemon situation... but recognizing the reality is, he is an asset in some ways and plausibly could be a contributor to a better outcome than we just experienced, with the right other assets in the fold. He's not the single reason we lost (as-if there were one reason), but his weaknesses do dictate that we have to be fairly surgical in how he's used... Which, in reality, when you think about it, is not all that different from how we would think about Horford if he were still our C. Horf was strong where D8 is weak, and D8 is strong where Horf was weak.
Admin
Maybe we need to find another tower type to play with him? Someone who's an above average passing big man in the post who is a good enough scorer that trams have to respect him and he can get Dwight easy looks by passing to him when Dwights man comes over to help. He's gotta be at least average on defense as well. No idea who this guy may be but that might be the best way to compliment Dwight at this stage. If so, I think I know someone who fits that description... hehe.

Nope as we have seen how that pair works out. If we are truly going to keep Dwight then Millsap has to go.

Probably won't read up on them until the week of the draft. I think anyone we get for PF needs to be at least 6'10" with a long wingspan.

Let's say Chris Bosh is given a clean bill of health... would he fit your vision?

DE has him as a NBA Center and it seems like he is a Dwight Clone with better post work. Maybe the workouts clarify this more for me

GameTime
There is a place for Howard on this team.. the question is does Howard want to be our Bogut who plays 20 minutes a game, sets elite screens, defends and rebounds.
