Premium Member Popular Post sturt Posted July 6, 2017 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted July 6, 2017 1. Big picture, there is no player we would miss out on who is consequential to said big picture, so the 2 days in RFA purgatory is no terrible price to pay. 2. I am one of those who recognize that a player's true overall value isn't very well established until he's 25-ish, and perhaps not until he's more like 28-ish, so it's not hard for me to imagine that someone could value this lottery pick who is only 23 to be destined for being considered in the top tier of players at his position in the league someday. 3. While I have often been recruited and have had the option to leave my current career for high-up, not just video-flunkie, scouting positions with practically every NBA team--yeah, my opinion is in high demand, and I could get paid big bucks for it if I really wanted--in this case, I'm going to acquiesce to Travis Schlenk's judgment. He gets a full benefit of a doubt this off-season that he knows some things better than I.... yes, even me, as full of basketball wisdom, savvy-ness and intelligence as I am.

Premium Member Sothron Posted July 8, 2017 Premium Member Report Share Posted July 8, 2017 I hope we go after Noel. We need a center that can pair up nicely with Collins and Noel fits that bill almost perfectly.
Watchman
If Slinky offers Noel a max or near max contract we will know for certain that he is incompetent or just a flat out liar. No bad contracts?

Maxing a guy like him handcuffs a team to mediocrity. Look at championship teams and who they max. Superstar players. Then they supplement their roster with role players on reasonable deals. Not max them out. Not when they're first starting out. It takes years to build a championship level team, and this is even after you become good. Maxing out a good young player is nothing, because they're not going to even be making 20 million a year. It's contracts like Bazemore, that become problematic for teams.
theheroatl
Here is the thing... Schlenk either can overpay for 3 slots or overpay for 1 slot... which do you want? What 2-3 players do you want to pay 10-15 million?
