Moderators lethalweapon3 Posted August 24, 2017 Moderators Report Share Posted August 24, 2017 Wayment... whose Sean Kilpatricks is this? http://hoopshype.com/2017/08/23/noteworthy-players-selected-in-nba-g-league-expansion-draft/ Quote Many players selected in the NBA G League Expansion Draft may never suit up for the team that selected them since some are currently under contract elsewhere (either in the NBA or overseas). For example, Brooklyn Nets guard Sean Kilpatrick was selected in the second round by Erie. This is because a G League can own the rights to a player for two years if they select them in the Expansion Draft. Essentially, the BayHawks are hoping Kilpatrick gets cut by the Nets at some point and then he’d join them since they own his G League rights. (This scenario seems unlikely though, given Kilpatrick played really well for the Nets last year, averaging 13.1 points, 4 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 25.1 minutes per game). Ah I see now... so He Whose Name (contract newly guaranteed w/ the Pelicans) is in the same boat? ~lw3
Premium Member sturt Posted August 24, 2017 Author Premium Member Report Share Posted August 24, 2017 Yep. And conventional wisdom says Prather will head back to Australia where he's a cult hero for the Perth team based on what I was reading during their championships. (Yeah, I know... why would anyone know that??? Don't judge me please. :) At the time, I was anticipating their PG, Bryce Cotton, might end up back here with us as last season wound down.)

He got called up by the Pelicans in March, and signed a 2 yr contract on the cheap.

He would've been a much better backup PG than Delaney. And with the playoff performance that Hardaway Jr had, we'd be better off with Jordan creating offense and making shots. Prather's rights got traded to the Okc Blue along with the 4th & 5th round draft slots in the upcoming G League draft. Erie gets a 1stround pick in return. http://erie.gleague.nba.com/news/bayhawks-complete-trade-okc-blue/
