Intentional losing is never the right way to do something.

We didn't lose intentionally, we competed and we came up short. I'll take results like this the rest of the season, the draft pick will do more for us than a playoff appearance.

But wait a minute! Since they're AAU crybabies and Boston had a season in the lottery in 13/14, they CAN'T be this good right now!

It's been posted already, but this kid reminds me of a young Shawn Kemp. The motor, athleticism, and willingness to mix it up inside are things you can't teach. Collins is going to be a 20 and 10+ guy for this franchise. I'm dating myself, but I had a pair of "Kamikaze Kemps" when I was in highschool and thought I was THE MAN.

Dennis, John the Baptist and Prince are great reasons to be excited for our future. You add in whatever we can get in the draft plus free agency and who knows? This might be a very quick rebuild.

Ayton and signing Avery Bradley or signing Jabari Parker as a 6th man who's used as a starter is my ideal goal. We would get improved offense and elite defense. 

 

I would love it but I don't know. The Bucks are trying to keep Parker.

Don't worry, you're not too old. I was in high school 5 years ago and had myself a pair of Kamikazes too when Reebok re-released them.

Honestly, if you think Dennis is one of the reasons to be excited about the future of the franchise, then you have already started this rebuild off with poor self evaluation.  As I said in the other thread, Dennis flashes the individual skills you want, but he doesn't consistently put them together.

I always thought Kemp was overrated mostly because I thought Payton ran the team as much if not more than Karl.  Looking back at his numbers I was wrong (but still a Payton fanatic).   History tries to remember him as just a dunker but he was much more.  The off-court issues also damped the shine his play casted.

He only averaged over 20 once but his peak rebounding years are outstanding and his defensive box was never negative  due to way more blocks (twice Blake Griffin’s career average) and steals (more than Dennis’ career average) than a 4 should get.  You don’t achieve that without great positioning and off-ball prowess either.  He was also much healthier than I remember, averaging 75 games over 14 years.  Consistently good FT shooting too.

If Johnny Bap becomes a Kemp clone with better passing I won’t be mad (maybe Bud and Co. throw some Blake Griffin tape in his sessions).  They’re already the same size, maybe there’s hope for him to reach near-Peak Amare levels with 10 more pounds and a PG with PNR mastery (cough!!, cough!!, Magette!?, ahem!). 

Side note on Al, his defensive metrics just keep ascending this season.  He about to be on some Ben Wallace, Tim Duncan type sh@t.  Not even at the quarter mark and he has a full defensive win share.

Very much hate to say this but the Celtics are a really well balanced starting five and thats with a rookie and a second year player putting in big minutes. This all without their thirty million dollar man available. Jeez, as a Hawk's fan its going to get so old watching the Green play for the foreseeable future so at least we match up pretty well and better yet I think if we have Taylor and Bembry fully healthy. Just have never enjoyed the Celtics having strong seasons especially with Ainge still involved.

Thank the Nets for Boston's success.   Maybe the worst management of any team I can think of.  In addition the Boston junk, they also gave up Lilliard to Portland for Crash.

I’ve been preaching exactly this, almost word for word, in as many threads I can squeeze it into, for the past week. Couldn’t say it better myself.

It is uncanny the size, playing style, and draft position similarities of Collins and Kemp.
