You're right.

They gave up what results in 3 lottery picks for Butler.   But still singed Teague and Crawford.    First off, we haven't had a good history in free agency.  Second... We're not going to give up three lottery picks.   Third.. the main variable that pushed that trade was Tom Thibideau.   Who is our Tom Thibideau?  Bud?

They gave up 2 disappointing lottery picks and flipped flopped lottery picks in Last years draft. So they only gave up 2 lottery picks. Secondly, Jeff Teague is hurt and they are still winning so obviously he isn't the key to their success and neither is Crawford. Is Crawford even playing better than Belinelli?  3rdly, the Hawks will have plenty of asset to trade if needed over the next 2 years.

Can this guy defend is the question.

That is part of the question to me or rather a matter of degree.  Harden and Curry can't impact games (positively) with their defense at all.  Best they can do is not be liabilities.  I'd rather have a Kawhi than Harden for his ability to impact games both directions but that isn't a clear cut choice and it isn't unreasonable to think a player like Curry or Harden would be a better pick over guys who might be better defenders but less impactful on offense.  At the end of the day, Doncic looks like a guy who might have a ceiling a little lower than some picks but whose floor is way higher than everyone in the draft.

Minnesota is driven by Towns and Butler.  The rest are role players.

Rather have more defense and rebounding than offense especially if we keep bud because Bud's teams can manufacture good offense.

There is definitely merit to the idea that ISO=less turnovers but ISO=better shots is just a stupid opinion. That's simply not true at all.

northcyde is also correct. Watch the offense. If John Collins isn't in, there's little offense in the paint outside of Dennis driving and that means the offense is either Dennis taking shots at the hoop or three pointers right now. You have John Collins in, and there's better spacing because of him on the PNR which helps out everybody.

I'm not married to Dennis, but let's not act like outside of Collins that more could be done to "develop" players (which still, as long as Collins is being held down minutes wise and every other guard isn't looking for him outside of the PNR, you can honestly point more to coaching). Taurean Prince requires someone to set him up.

I don't disagree we need more of these just saying our first draft pick this year is not the only avenue we will have to fill these needs.  I'd definitely rather have Doncic than Bamba right now even though he clearly ticks both of those boxes, for example.

16 is not a lottery pick.  (Details).

Teague is hurt but has been playing well and Butler too has been hurt but is playing well.  Crawford contributes.

They have 2 #1 picks overall on their sqaud.  We have never had 1 #1 pick overall and I'm not holding my breath thinking that this is our year.

The Hawks will have what assets?  Baze?  Nelli, Prince??  Has any of them been showcased enough to get you an allstar talent without the push of a former coach to make it happen???

Come and let me know when we have the right talent to go after an allstar.

Starbury from ages 21-30 played for the Nets and Knicks.

In NJ, Marbury ran offenses that ranked:

26th in assists

25th in assists

26th in assists

(The Nets ranked #3 in assists the season after he was gone).

Marbury then went to NY and ran offenses that ranked:

#16 in assists

#26 in assists

#30 in assists

#28 in assists

#30 in assists

(The Knicks improved to #11 in assists the season after he was gone).

Dennis is currently running an offense that ranks #7 in assists.  He has never played on a team that wasn't top 10 in assists.

So there is a difference in terms of how the ball moves on teams with Dennis versus prime-Marbury.
