Popular Post Buzzard
Quote ATLANTA, GA – The Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club today reached an agreement in principle with Lloyd Pierce to become the team’s new head coach. Pierce will be the 13thfull-time head coach in Hawks history. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not announced. “As we set out to find a new head coach for our team, it was critically important to find a dynamic teacher who could connect with and develop our young core while instilling the culture and high standards we feel are necessary in a successful program,” said Hawks General Manager and Head of Basketball Operations Travis Schlenk. “Lloyd Pierce checks every box, and we couldn’t be more excited to have him leading the Atlanta Hawks into the future.” http://www.nba.com/article/2018/05/11/atlanta-hawks-reach-agreement-principle-lloyd-pierce-become-teams-head-coach

Iverwig
I don't know what I feel about the hire but in time we will know if this is the right hire or not. I do not know anything about Pierce outside of what has been reported so we will see how he does.

Plus was an assistant with his former college and they recently wanted him as their head coach. I am good with this. He is into player development and appears for all intents and purposes to be a leader.

It's a wait and see approach.

We will know a lot more by the end of next season; but I think he will give our young players a lot of burn and a chance to develop. May have to go with Schlenkloyd like Schizoid :) Edited May 11, 2018 by Buzzard
Popular Post NBASupes
I can't wait. Sometimes the best piece in a rebuilding situation is the coach who wants to be there and battle

I don't think a vet like Van Gundy would be a good fit. He had his time with D12 and he is probably over having to teach 18, 19, and 20 year old kids how to play in the NBA. Premium Member cam1218 Posted May 11, 2018 Premium Member Report Share Posted May 11, 2018 I’m excited about this. I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of staff he puts together. I wonder if any of the current staff has interest in staying?

Most of the current staff has been at the practice facility working out the draft picks. Edited May 11, 2018 by JayBirdHawk

Yeah I saw that, I just don’t know how to take it. It either means they hope to stay, they are just doing their job, or they thought Ham might get the job and they would be retained.

I will support our new coach until he gives me a reason not to.

He seems well spoken and looks the part of a leader. Can't way to see how we scheme. I wonder what he's going to do for assistants....I hope Ham gets the chance to stick around.
