Super top-end (but unlikely): Gordon Hayward- very good scorer, who plays good defense, but isn't in that upper top tier of guys Most likely- Maybe Dell Curry-esque. About 12 per night, with efficient shooting. Never tries to do more than he can. If i remember Dell right, he'd shoot your eyes out, but could drive at times. Probably a better example, that that is what came to my mind. Bob Sura maybe?
Premium Member Peoriabird Posted June 22, 2018 Premium Member Report Share Posted June 22, 2018 I would say Gordon Hayward for now.

ESPN said young Mike Miller... but I think he has the potential to be better. He might be the second coming of JJ2 for the Hawks, but the youngin will show us who he is.
pimp
He kind of reminds me of a young Allan Houston from back in his Detroit day. I like him.

I can totally see it. Hopefully with a little bit better ball handling capabilities.
ersimo2889
Good recovery by the Hawks to essentially turn Adreian Payne into this pick. Huerter looks like he'll have a much bigger impact than Payne ever did. Kid has gorgeous shooting form - should be a treat to watch him shoot 3's every night!

nitte
By the way even though he is a sophmore, he is slightly younger than Ayton, MPJ and Bamba. I am hopeful for this pick.
thecampster
I watched him play back in January and this is who he reminded me of at that time. I think if he turns into 1/2 the player Hornacek was, I'd be thrilled.
thecampster
On a side note, I lamented earlier in the year how I hated how little college ball I watched this year and then while watching the draft last night, I was surprised how many of the highlights I'd watched live. I might need counseling.
Moderators AHF Posted June 22, 2018 Moderators Report Share Posted June 22, 2018 Whoever the comparable is needs to be able to pass the ball and handle the ball a little while having a nice jumper. Decent size but thin and with nearly no dunking ability. Was thinking his ceiling might be Rip Hamilton with a little less mid-range game and D and a little more 3pt range. thecampster
I just see that hard pound when driving the lane right and he's a clone of Hornacek in that approach to the basket.
GameTime
Also i'm not buying he cannot play defense. He has above average athleticism and good feet/technique.

kerrypack
I listened to some podcast talk about huerter. I didnt hear all the detail because I listened as i ran, but he can catch the ball and put up off balanced jumpers quickly that will go in. that is what they blathered on about. his athleticism is very good: https://stats.nba.com/draft/combine-strength-agility/#!?sort=MAX_VERTICAL_LEAP&dir=1 he obviously needs to get stronger. in terms of spellman... he is a fatbody. he loses that weight he could be an elite athlete? A lot of comments on his highlights compared him to Klay Thompson Ill take any of those. Kids got game Yo if we got a young Mike Miller we lucked up.
