You deliberately misrepresented what someone said for “lols” and are comparing me to Sanders?  If all you have to respond with is non-substantive insults then I guess throw in another lol post to make yourself feel better.

When the attitude towards the other posters is conscending, it comes across a different way.  All good.  Let’s get back on topic.

Back to the topic....For me the 2 questions are;

1) Is Prince a good defender?

2) What kind of defender will John Collin become.

My answer is Prince is a good defender who wasn't properly motivated to live up to his defensive porential. I also believe that Collins will be a plus defender because of his atletecism.

While I think you will see some pretty negative numbers for our rookies, I think it is very likely that you can also bank on improvements for Prince and Collins.  They should improve, anyway.

I don't expect Huerter or Spellmam to get that many minutes unless they show the same type of readiness that Collins did last season.

I see Spellman getting almost all of his minutes in relief of Collins. I think the whole reason we signed Len is to have a true center on the floor at all times ( Dedmon, Len, Plumlee ). I think that fits Pierces defensive style. I also think Schlenk and Pierce want to give Len a shot at replacing Dedmon this season and in the future. This is his chance to really show up with no Tyson Chandler to compete with.

Trae will get his; at least 20 mpg if Lin is healthy. I cannot begin to guess what will happen if Lin is not healthy. Huerter despite his promise is only 19 and needs to bulk up more than Trae does, Anderson can spell at SG and SF and will most certainly steal minutes from Huerter and possibly Bazemore.

This is how I see things. We improved defensively at PG, Center, and SG/SF with the additions of Lin, Len, and Anderson. I think this was by design based on what our coach wants. I don't expect Pierce to waste the acquisitions of Lin, Len, or Anderson the least little bit.

Plus I think Bembry plays a lot..maybe 18-20 minutes per game. Len plays 20 minutes per game also which means some of Dedmon's minutes are spent at the 4

I keep forgetting about Bembry. This is his put up or walk to another team year.

Also, don't be surprised if Taurean Prince ends up getting traded within the next year or so.

Why? None of our moves suggest we don't plan on trying to contend soon after this season.

So, exactly how are they going to shorten the learning curve for these young, underdeveloped players they have added to be able to contend soon after this season?

I am not sold on Bembry but his defense is decent from what little he has played. He is going to have to show Pierce he can play at this level and he should get a valid test during our scrimmages/practices. He will be manned up against Prince, Bazemore, Anderson, Dorsey, and Huerter most of the time.

It shouldn't take 10 years for our players to start figuring things out. If we draft properly and Pierce is a good coach (not a guarantee), we could be a decent payoff team as soon as next year.

Oh, yeah.  I keep forgetting that teams can just flip a switch and go from being very bad to very good.

It is just a judgement of his not based on facts. If it was a fact all rookies coming out after only one college season would be years away from contributing. Time will tell, but Trae has a very good chance in my opinion to make the all rookie team. I am not sure Huerter or Spellman will see enough minutes to make that kind of splash.

They might not be great next year either, but they could be really good in Year 3 or 4. And if they never pan out it's okay since we didn't use particularly high picks to select them. But if say Collins, Prince and Trae are approaching All-star quality by Year 3, you'd have to think between the other assets we have right now and yet to come, we should be in a good position by 2020.

I agree with you, Worse case is Huerter and Spellman are specialist/role players. I think Trae is a lock to be our starting PG for years to come.

Bembry actually played better than Prince in summer league last year. He will never be the shooter Prince is but is better at just about everything else.
