Premium Member Peoriabird Posted August 1, 2018 Premium Member Report Share Posted August 1, 2018 The players that fill out this year's roster appear to be more serviceable players than the one's we had last year. Even the 2 way players are closer to being NBA players than Josh Magette and Tyler Cavanaugh. I continued to be puzzled by the Hawk interest in players like Nikolas Brussino, Jeremy Evans, Andrew White, Josh Magette, Tyler Cavanaugh, Luke Babbitt, Malcolm Delaney ,Isaiah Taylor and Jalen Morris over players like Quinn Cook until I saw this.. Bucks sign Jaylen Morris, Brandon McCoy and Travis Trice Posted by Inside Hoops Jul 31 The Milwaukee Bucks have signed guard Jaylen Morris to a Two-Way contract. The team also signed free agent center Brandon McCoy and guard Travis Trice to training camp contracts. Morris, 22, appeared in six games with the Atlanta Hawks last season and averaged 4.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 16.4 minutes per game. He was called up to the Hawks from their G League affiliate, the Erie BayHawks, after he played and started 39 games for the BayHawks and averaged 12.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.2 steals in 31.4 minutes per contest while shooting 51.7 percent from the field. This year we don't anybody on our roster that remotely resembles the 10 non NBA players we carried on our roster last year and It just cannot be a coincidence. I firmly believe that Bud had a heavy hand in picking up most if not all of those players because as soon as he left, Those guys were gone!

Can't say Bud won't look out for you if you worked hard when you were previously on the team. He even grabbed up the G-League coach for Erie last season & brought him to the Bucks. Seemed like for years under Mike Smith, the talent was just average and poor in certain areas. Then when Quinn became head coach, the talent level went up several notches. Same with the Hawks...The talent level on this team has been average over 5 years and now it appears to be much improved over the last couple of drafts.
Moderators macdaddy Posted August 1, 2018 Moderators Report Share Posted August 1, 2018 I don't think Bud was picking players last year but historically Bud seemed to like projects and role players. Last year was a tank year so i think we were just grabbing guys off the scrap heap. But i really doubt Travis was delegating that to Bud with what we've seen from Travis since he took the job. So what explains the lack of interest in those same players this year? 90% of them are still available and we had roster spot.
hazer
I don’t look in the rear view mirror for former Hawks who are dead to me now. Namely Alice Whorefart and Muck Pudenholzer.

Smith use to rely upon guys like Paul Worrilow, Harry Douglas, Kroy Biermann, Thomas Decoud etc and now they have no players like that playing significant roles. I feel the Hawks will go down the same path.

KB21
It's interesting that the G-League players were all on Bud while John Collins was all on Slinky. I'm sure we will somehow give slinky credit for Taurean Prince as well. It's almost like Slinky getting credit for having the Minnesota and Cleveland first round picks when it was Bud that acquired those.....without tanking the team out I might add. I listed 10 guys including Brussino and Babbitt who were signed to appease Bud. Lloyd Pierce doesn't want those kind of players and that is why you don't see them on the roster anymore.
