Benkert looked good at QB though he was on the run for his life a good bit. Keeping Schaub as a part of the QB coaching staff would be the best option to me so Benkert backs up Ryan. Schaub could stay around as the third guy if the Falcon's would consider keeping three. Guessing they will not. Schaub's arm has been pretty much gone for three years or more now. No question about Benkert's arm.
Thomas
So....I spoke too soon. Benkert is out possibly six to eight weeks. Jeepers. They are bringing in probably the worst AAF quarterback and a guy that bit for us last preseason guessing just for some reps against Schaub. Matt Sims. A name that brings nothing to mind really. His retired QB dad has a couple of rings because of the Giants incredible defense back then. Between Schaub and Sims who has the weakest arm....a toss up. Someone else with a heartbeat has to be bouncing around out there somewhere.
Thomas
So Thursday night our O-line sucked mightily but Matt still worked with it and we scored. He was still pretty efficient somehow, someway and this with getting knocked on his back over and over. He does not absolutely look tough but "Holy Shit" he is tough. Lindstrom I do believe will be fine soon but RT is so very F***ed right now so I will will leave it at this and say thank goodness that RT is not Matt's blindside. Otherwise Matt Ryan would be playing Bingo and signing autographs.
Thomas
Pre Season no more. Julio signed that extension in recent news so that is finally done and now we are ready to roll on the road up in Viking land. Hope the rookies stand tall today. Matt truly needs that. Oh yeah, very glad our so called "old man" kicker is back, with Bryant we know we can make them. That pre season kicking experiment is happily water under the bridge now.

Beat those Vikings!!!! Vikings -3.5 is the current spread.
Thomas
You would think it is time to start a regular season Falcon's thread but as of right now thinking we are still in pre season while some others are in regular season. Todays game recap....ugh....offensive line is still very offensive but at least they are just rooks on the right side I guess. Yet again what is Mathews excuse on the left, he looked much worse than Lindstrom and McGary did. Will say Ito Smith picks up a blitz a thousand times better than Freeman, so there is that. He might have saved a Super Bowl trophy ceremony for us a while back.

After the debacle today have to say the Viking fans are pretty crazy and good for the NFL. They create a very raucous college atmosphere up there. Props to them. So how bout we try for a regular season worthy effort next week.
Premium Member JayBirdHawk Posted September 8, 2019 Premium Member Report Share Posted September 8, 2019 On the bright side (if there is one) 1. It's only one game 2. won't have to wait 8 weeks for Julio to catch his first TD. 3. It can't be any worse next week....riiight? 4. Grady is a monster 5. Barner looks decent as the return man 6. Ito Smith needs more touches.
