He had a decent overall game. Had a few defensive miscues like not boxing out on Porter Jr when he had that putback dunk and a couple offensive ones but he was much better today. He looked confident for the most part. With Cam, he gets to spots with little to no problem, he just has to understand how to draw fouls.

Other players are doing a better job of moving without the ball and getting into position to make plays instead of just standing around and watching Trae the whole game.

The weakness of the centet spot is obvious though.

Jabari does help alot with backup PF.  He's just not starter material. 

Overall, this was one of the better games from all the young players.  Denver is an excellent defensive and offensive team.  They have so much depth, but the Hawks fought hard until the end.   Consider me a happy camper. 

Also, if it took LP yelling at Kevin to get these results, I expect in my grandma's voice a "blessing" out every other game.  Glad to see him shooting so great.  

I'm seeing lot's of progress from the garbage we saw in November and December. 

Good game young fellas.

Rewatching this 4th quarter. 

Bembry falling asleep at the last minute and allowing that layup, was the game's turning point.  Get a stop there, and the Hawks have the ball down by 1.  But they score to go up 3.  Then they make a 3 on the other end to go up 6.   After that, the Hawks were pretty much done, despite the Hawks still keeping it somewhat close.

Kevin really just needs the minutes. He is the one player who minutes has been down from last year due to injuries

Parker is not a real power forward.  He is LP power forward just like Vince Carter.

Thoughts from the game:

• Trae was +7 in 39 minutes in a game the team lost by 8 pts. So they were -15 when he wasn't on the floor.  Ugh. 
• Trae was attributed 7 of the team's 10 TOs but I wonder how many of those were really a product of his teammates? I saw a few passes fumbled.
• Loving the last few games for Kev. I blasted him in Boston for absolute suckiness but these last two games have been a joy to watch. When he's aggressive he's really good.
• How about the efficiency: Trae 29 pts on 12 shots; Kev 22 pts on 12 shots; Hunter 16 pts on 11 shots 
• Rebounding from the C position:  Bruno - 2 / Len - 1 / Jones - 2 / TOTAL - 5 Boards. How is that even possible? By contrast, Trae and Goodwin combined for 5 as well. The C position for the Hawks is just comically bad. 
• Vince.........what can we say? I'm honestly not sure what he still does well, but I hate to knock on the guy cuz I really like him. I just wish I saw him more cheering from the bench. I will say though......he had 2 Ast, 2 Reb, and 2 Blocks in 18 min. We'll call it the Old Man Triple Double. 
• Nuggets got 47 from the Ogre and 28 from Barton. That they *only* beat the Hawks by 8 pts is......unexpected. 
• All in all, I think last night demonstrated just about the maximum offensive productivity for this Hawks team as a group.  Yes, Trae can do more especially if and when he takes more than 12 shots, but at what cost? Who does he take shots away from. I think we all can agree the Hawks will be more dangerous getting 29 from Trae on 12 shots when they also get 22 from Huerter, 17 from JC, and 16 from Hunter as opposed to 45 from Trae but minimal contributions from the others.

Four pretty well played games in a row now. Very competitive anyway so with this strange thing called healthy players (fingers crossed) things are looking better.

Fat-a** is still a fat-a**.  Last night he wanted revenge since we exposed him in DEN and he couldn't adjust to being left butt-nekked wide-a** open all game.

Kudos to him for (a) actually coming out and trying and (b) recognizing we're a donut (got a hole in the middle?  c'mon, keep up).

But, since he's still a fat-a**, we know next game he'll be 6-7 shots with 6-7 assists and 6-7 rebounds because he'll be exhausted by the end of warmups.

Their last game he was 14/10 on 10 shots in a loss to the 'Zards who were without Beal and a couple other guys.

Yeah, he's a super skilled big but let's not go tossin' the "great" word out on that guy.  Come playoff time, when they'll need him to brang it every night, he'll get out-worked and they'll fizzle out as expected.

This post was dedicated to @Spud2nique n' @Sothron, btw.  I'm probably about 40% serious.  I like his game but I do think he's out of shape, which should bother people more.

Problem for us and others in defending against Jokic is that if you can slow him down inside he will just rack up assists and still beat you and then probably take the game. Offensively he is a diverse talent.

Their last game in the playoffs last year would be the best example of that when they went to Jokic every time down the stretch and he just went cold. Series done. That said this guy is still only 24 years old so certainly no book on him can be closed. Think he can probably keep the Nuggets fighting for a spot in that WCF series each year. Not so sure about more than that though.

For all you history buffs, remember reading about the battle flag the USA once had:

"DON'T TREAD ON ME."

Denver's center, Jokic, apparently had this memorial flag on the back of his shirt last night.

Bruno tried.  Alex tried.  Damian tried.  John tried.  Four Hawk centers all tried and all had a hand in Jokic shooting 16 free throws.  He got 11 of them and hit 16 of 25 from the floor, including 4 threes. 

Lloyd Pierce noted the many whistles the Denver men got.  I remember one call against a Hawk when he just clearly touched only the ball, knocking it out of bounds.  This happened just after LP used his one challenge where the Denver player traveled, then John fouled him.  The foul call stood.  Apparently, the fact that he walked didn't enter into the check.

Grumble.  Growl.  Grumble.  Growl.  All in all, Hawks played a great game.  Seems that these better teams (they all qualify when facing Atlanta) get the benefit on the calls.  Bad calls are supposed to balance out.  Each team getting a like number of calls.  Being a blind, homer Hawk fan, I begin to wonder.

Oh, well, off we go to the next one.

Am sure it has been said before but it really feels like we are playing against two teams at times with the way the refs influence the outcome of our games so often.
