Popular Post Gray Mule
After watching the films, WOW! And, Hawks got him for free! So, he's injured. May be out for the rest of the season. On the other hand, he has our own injury guru to work on the problem. Lets wait and hear what she has to say before we give up on him. I did notice, in one of the films, they mentioned that this was his second triple double of the season. Another wow! Love his shooting touch. Moves well. Maybe, a hidden gem that our GM has stolen. And, if worse comes to worse, what did it cost us?

Thomas
If we can get him on the floor he should not ever have to play more than twenty minutes at the very most so his durability may well show better moving forward. Certainly hoping so because he has the skills for the strech big. 1

He should spend the majority of his time at College Park, but so should the majority of the young players that have been getting heavy minutes on this team. Why? Dude has been good when he gets PT. Injury has been holding him back but I might be the most excited by this pickup the most. Has shown the ability to be a matchup well those those unicorn type forwards. Look at the game he played vs Giannis and the Bucks. Not many in the league can send Giannis shot back and he did it twice while not getting backed down in the post by him. He's added about 25 pounds of muscle since he's been in the league and got high praise from his teammates at the beginning of the season. Lillard himself called him the MVP of their camp this year. He was stuck behind a lot of forwards drafted higher than him in this previous stops with the Kings and Blazers who seem to both love drafting power forwards for some reason. Not saying he's a world beater, but with us he can actually play his natural position at 4 here. Career 36% 3 point shooters with a high release and high arch. Can rim run and is a legit 7 foot with shoes on. He will get plenty of mins at the 4 with us since backup pf is a position of need with us. He's a late bloomer. Was always gonna be a few years behind in development because of his late start playing competitively. Now he's been in the gym and the weight room working on his game and body professionally for 3 years and he's only 1 year older than Hunter. His body transformation has been pretty impressive. Looks like he wants it and he will get an opportunity with us to show what he's made of. Really like this move. 1 minute ago, gHost83 said: Edited February 8, 2020 by gHost83

Skal is your typical overhyped, underdeveloped AAU product. You will be very lucky if he ever becomes a positive contributor off the bench as a 4th big. Quit ruining threads with logic and reason based on wisdomed analysis. 1
thecampster
So to be honest I didnt know much and I just watched a few analysis vids. Watched the player, didnt really listen to the analysis. Slow release on his shot. Lumbering frame for such a narrow. More athletic than the eye test which almost looks lazy. Relies on hops over positioning. Clumsy footwork too passive getting position. The good...man this guy needs a good big man coach to work with him on footwork because his frame and hops are excellent. His attitude is great but his body language tells you when the play is going away from him. Good shot would be better if he would get to his spots more aggressively. Good vision and understanding of what the team is trying to accomplish. Overall a useful player. Could really use a few lessons with Oakley about aggressiveness.
gHost83
I think with mins, he has Lauri Markkanen type upside. Their games are quite similar.
gurpilo
I think he can be more than decent backup PF for us. We have some games to evaluate him but I like the signing. Since he is in Portland he has good advanced stats, good defensive impact while still provide decent offense. I like the signing

bleachkit
Good luck to him, but guys that keep getting hurt, usually keep getting hurt. Rooting for him to make an impact.
Popular Post JTB
Ok well....Schlenk has done a good job judging talent and he clearly sees something in this guy so I’m just keeping my fingers cross! Maybe this kid turns into a very good rotational piece for us! nice to have a decent load of big men on the roster.

Gray Mule
I want to watch this back up PF before season's end! He's 23 years old, 6'10" and 235 lbs. Most of us either forget that he's a Hawk or ignore him because he's not playing right now. Somewhere, someone said that he was nearer to playing than our center, Capela. Vince Carter has already helped some of our young lads. I hope he gets to work with Skal before season's end. Maybe, I hope, Vince will be back next season as a coach.

I can't have it both ways. He says yes and you say no. Is he no good? Is he desirable? Guess I will just have to wait and see him on the floor, with the Hawks. Watch him play. See for myself whether he is any good. See if he fits our Hawk team. Impatiently I await his being cleared to play this season. I want to hear from his team mates. How they feel about his talents and if they believe the fit is there.
Moderators AHF Posted March 9, 2020 Moderators Report Share Posted March 9, 2020 The advanced metrics would tell you that Skal is a decent role player when healthy. That is why Portland fans were disappointed he got moved. 15.4 PER, .588% TS%, .121 WS/48 (balanced positive contributions on both sides of the ball), -1.3 BPM (better on D from a BPM perspective than on O) - overall suggests a nice deep bench player (i.e., not in the top 8 of your rotation). He has potential but nobody should expect him to come in and be an immediate impact player, IMO. He would need to significantly develop to have more than a marginal impact on Ws and Ls for next season. At age 23 and given how raw he was coming out of college, that is fully possible but will likely take some time.

He needs more development to reach his full potential and really needs to start staying healthy. Tough to develop when playing half a season.
