He adopted the foul drawing as a means against the overly physical defenders. But come postseason, they let a lot of that contact slide, so Trae will have to adjust even further to getting bumped, scratched, blitzed, and knocked down over and over. He is about to grow a lot in the next few weeks. I think he is made for this. He is tough as nails.

marco102
I'm not sure if it's that the lower seeds are not very good, but the home teams have been destroying the road teams thus far. I hope that trend ends on Sunday. Edited May 20, 2021 by marco102

Premium Member Popular Post JayBirdHawk Posted May 20, 2021 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted May 20, 2021 Schlenk on the Knicks: Quote “Two things that I think, talking about the Knicks in particular, that we need to do is first and foremost is their 3-point shooting,” Schlenk said. “When you think about the Knicks, you don’t necessarily think about that, but they were almost 40 percent and had several guys have career years from the 3-point line. I think five guys shot 40-plus. We have to defend their shooters. Julius Randle is the head of the beast for them. In my opinion, he should be the Most Improved Player in the league. He’s the first player in the history of the league with a minimum of 500 attempts to go from sub-30 percent to plus-40 percent in the league. He plays a lot of point forward for them. He gets a ton of isolations late in the game. You have to be ready to defend him as a scorer and a playmaker. Those are the two things that really stand out to me. Certainly, Derrick Rose when he comes off the bench, and Alec Burks. They have other guys but their 3-point shooting and Julius are the two big things.” Quote Schlenk said he’s looking forward to seeing how this group responds in an environment that will be a raucous one, especially considering the Knicks haven’t been in the playoffs since 2013. “I think it’s going to be a great experience for all of our young guys,” he said. “We’re gonna be in the spotlight in the Mecca at The Garden. They’re up to 13,000 fans they’re gonna let in the building. … It’s going to be that on steroids with 13,000 people in the building. I think from an experience standpoint, it’s going to be great for our guys to be in that environment, for many of them their first trip to the playoffs. I’m excited about that to see how they handle it and to learn from it and grow from it.” Hawks GM Travis Schlenk on Knicks matchup, Nate McMillan’s future in Atlanta, Cam Reddish, offseason priorities – The Athletic 2

He got his message to the guys and took one for the team. Now its time for them to respond. It will also force he media and the league to look at itself and determine if there is any truth to it.

NBA can't have its coaches speaking the truth about agendas of the association. Protect the shield and all that bull$hit. Personally I LOVE that our coach is preparing his players for the inevitable bad calls and bias.

Premium Member JayBirdHawk Posted May 21, 2021 Premium Member Report Share Posted May 21, 2021 I see a lot of wide open shots for Randle in our 3 games, it's also like they forget that Randle is a lefty when guarding him. Something to fix. 1

Popular Post thecampster
As we get closer to tipoff Sunday, I've been mulling the series around in my head. I'm feeling really good about Hawks in 6 but wouldn't be surprised by Hawks in 4 or 5....This is the healthiest we've seen this group together all year and Gallo in the playoffs is the x-factor to me. He's never been good in the playoffs but I think that's more to do with the teams he's been on and not the player. He's always been asked to do too much. This might be the first time Gallo isn't the primary or secondary focus on the floor. This will be the first time in a long time that Trae will have all 4 of Huerter, Gallo, Hunter and BB available for a full 48 minutes. The Hawks are going to be a nightmare defensive matchup for New York.

Something to fix. That's honestly the reason putting a big on Randle makes no sense to me. He plays like Lebron, outside in. A PF size SF that can distribute the rock and hit from deep. Clint and John both are afraid of his dribble drive and back off of him, giving him open looks from outside. You need a guy that isn't afraid to play him tight and get in to him. Once he is in the lane you have more help. And last I checked, 3 points is more than 2. So we should be selling out more to chase him in to the mid ranges vs donating him wide open looks from 3. Dre is the better matchup for him outside, but that leaves JC to guard who? Barret or Bullock? Not ideal either. I think we just run zone on their butts or box and 1 with Dre chasing around Randle. 5

Gray Mule
ESPN Experts have had their say. NY has the edge, 15-3. They didn't shut us out completely as 3 chose the Hawks. To me, this puts much more pressure on NY. They are highly favored and have the first two games at their house, giving them a further edge. Hawks have little playoff experience but neither does NY. If the Hawks lose out, this comes as expected. But, with everything pointing their way, should the NY team blow it, watch out! Our coach has already spoken out and been fined for stating the truth, we all believe... Partially shut that door, didn't he. GO ATL HAWKS !!
