I kind of love it because we haven’t had this much publicity since? Maybe the Boston series in 08’. The 60 win Hawks never had an all eyes on us moment during the playoffs. This Knicks series could erupt into something really special. Anything that kicks off in a way that reminds everyone of Reggie Miller taunting MSG is pretty great. This is def big for Trae's stardom. Along with Bogi, Capella, John, Hunter, and Heurter getting a lot more exposure. Lue and Gallo are already well known.

But man would we be doing the world a favor if we win. I agree, they absolutely could. But just looking at the way the series has gone even in just one game, it strikes me as everything surrounding the Hawks is a quiet confidence whereas everything surrounding the Knicks is unsubstantiated, built-up hype. The majority of media predict Knicks in 6 (hype). The fans chanting at Trae (hype). The mayor calling out bogus, unmerited foul hunting on Trae (hype). Randle making comments before the series started (hype). Yes, the Knicks are a good team, but we all know the Hawks have the better roster and are the better team. We've even seen a few of the folks in the media that don't give a damn about whether they ruffle feathers say so. That doesn't mean the Hawks will win the series, but the approach of the two sides seams different. Maybe it changes if the Knicks turn this into a long series, but for now, it just seems like all the noise is surrounding the Knicks or them complaining about Trae. I'm just saying I think it will serve to focus the Hawks and really rally around each other. Could be bad news for the Knicks.
Popular Post marco102
My only problem with the ranting Knicks' fans is they are acting like it's not a big deal that the Knicks lost game one and they can easily come to ATL and win homecourt back. The Hawks have the longest home winning streak in the NBA. The Hawks are a much better home team than road team. They just came to the Knicks floor and outplayed them for 36 of a 48 minute game. I know Randle had a bad game, but OMG it's not like Alec Burk (sp) wasn't going off and the rookies, (Quickley and Toppin) were playing above their heads. I still think it'll be a tough series, but if Atlanta wins this next one, Knicks should be very concerned.

All we keep hearing is how "dees Knicks don't back down from nobody" and "da mecca, da mecca, da mecca". I keep hearing about the Knicks teams of old and how this team's "like them". Well, both these teams are new to the playoffs. Why are folks speaking about the Knicks as if they're a known quantity? Reality is they're not. Not even a little bit. We have no idea how they'll react to the playoffs. Knicks sweeping the Hawks or Knicks in 5 was all based on hype. Nothing of substance. As you said, the ones that don't care about pandering all told the truth. The Hawks have a better roster. Will they win? Who knows. But, on paper, the edge is with Atlanta. And that was before taking a 1 game lead. There's still a lot of work to do, but only 'hype' believes the Knicks are still in control. It's really weird to hear their fans speaking on that.
Popular Post thecampster
Trae is living rent free on a multi year lease in the collective heads of New Yorkers right now. Mayor Bill de Blasio took time out of a speech today to complain about Trae foul hunting. The article even mentioned the Barrett foul late in the 4th. https://nypost.com/2021/05/25/bill-de-blasio-tries-psyching-out-trae-young-to-help-knicks/ 2 things. 1) The foul wasn't on the body contact, it was on the inadvertent slap to the head right before it. Its why Trae knew he was too close. 2) On the last play, Collins got pinned to the ground by Taj Gibson before the ball was inbounded. It should have been 2 shots and the ball, game over. If anything, the Hawks got screwed on that call and bailed out by the good Trae floater. See here 4-6 second mark. Final_quest
And we are playing on ABC this Sunday at 1 PM. It could be the highest rated Hawks game of all time. We need another iconic moment before Sunday and it becomes must see TV.
Premium Member sturt Posted May 25, 2021 Author Premium Member Report Share Posted May 25, 2021 Curious... ya think any other fan base's fans would react so bonkers as this NYK 2021 fan base has? I mean, the amateur psychologist in me is really fascinated with just how over the top this has become for them. 2

Also, Frank smacks the back of Trae's hand on the floater, that could have been called too. But John said it perfectly. Gibson grabbed him, took him down and he lost his shoe as a result. That was a huge "play on" moment that went uncalled. The Barrett foul was the one iffy call Trae got all day, but guess what, they reviewed it and upheld it. So you have to accept it and move on Knocks fans.

All three fan bases eat their own a whole bunch but then go us against the world when the lights are on. Will say that when the mayor gets involved it does become a bit more bizarre. Really fun to watch it unfold.
Popular Post EazyRoc
You know how much mental real estate you’ve got to be taking up to have a mayor call a single opposing player by name. 4 2
