Popular Post marco102
Gosh I want to get to the ECF so badly. Can you imagine how good it would feel if the Trae outplays Giannis and the Hawks get to the finals? Bud left for a superstar and our young star gets us somewhere he hasn't been able to. I know it's not very likely to happen, but a guy can dream. Edited June 20, 2021 by marco102 6
Popular Post kg01
Man, Nets playing in the conference finals? Nah ... that's not basketball. Haha, f*k you Nash-hole. (Eh, was clunky but I'll stick with it.) 1 1
RedDawg#8
I hope Nate was paying attention . Durant played every minute tonight, so did Harden. Giannis played all but 3 minutes. Trae played 40 minutes last night. That stretch in the 2nd where the bench lost the lead they were given was literally the game. Injury or Foul trouble should be the only reason you take Trae out of a closeout game that is still in question. Let the 180lb 22 year old use his youthful energy to keep our foot on the gas. No more of these regular season rotations where the bench gets extended run while losing the lead. Too much is at stake. Trae should not leave the floor tomorrow.

Durant playing every minute also cost them the game because he came up short on every one of his shots in overtime which indicates tired legs. I think you let the game dictate when you bring Trae back in. We will want him semi fresh for the fourth quarter run. NBASupes
I would really like Atlanta chances against Milwaukee with Hunter and a healthy Bogi. Maybe the big lineup of JC/Gallo/Capela works against the Bucks.

Lurker
Tbh if Milwaukee doesn't make the finals they should still fire Bud after the ECF is over... - While the Hawks gave Philly plenty of trouble during the recent bad years, that is much less the case with Milwaukee. - Embiid's stamina issues are obvious and even if Philly wins, he'll have played a difficult 7 game series where he had to play a lot. (I'm in full agreement, the deal with him isn't the knee even if he is maybe not 100%, it's his stamina instead) It's really a case where they should be the 14/15 Cavs where they have an easier time now. But I won't believe it until I see it.

He had no business coming out when he did last night and you saw what happened. If he is slow and clearly gassed then give him a breather. But let his play dictate that, not the rotations. It's do or die time. You have the entire offseason to save him if your ass loses the game. Play to win, dont play Not to Lose.

More fans will be gained by the Hawks no matter what because of what you mentioned. Also, that big stage thing they always mention about Trae, I assume tomorrow night qualifies? Can we get another bow goodnight to the Philly crowd from Trae?

marco102
Lol...this is going to be a disaster and it won't affect the players they think it will. Quote Based on the Competition Committee’s guidance and subject to discussions with the Board of Governors, the league will train officials to identify and properly adjudicate the following overt actions to initiate contact with defenders: When a shooter launches or leans into a defender at an abnormal angle. When a shooter kicks his leg (up or to the side) at an abnormal angle. When an offensive player abruptly veers off his path (sideways or backward) into a defender. Under the new emphasis, these overt actions will now be officiated as offensive fouls (if deemed more than marginal) or no-calls (if marginal). In the same way, if the defender initiates the contact after the offensive player starts his upward shooting motion (in a normal basketball manner), a shooting foul should be called if the contact is deemed more than marginal (and a no-call should result if the contact is deemed marginal). So when crafty players lean into defenders on their jump shots, the NBA’s new rules dictate that should be called an offensive foul. And when players lean backward or sideways to initiate contact, the marginal contact should be no-calls. If they are exclusively using Trae's film to train them, then he may be in trouble. But if they look at these things holistically, you are going to see a lot of your favorite players get dinged by this. While they are it, I wish they would revisit the flopping rules. I have never before in my life seen a 284 lb man get tossed around like a rag doll so much until I saw Embiid. 1
Popular Post marco102
Turns out the Hawks do bring in the ratings. Remember Atlanta is the 7th largest TV market and moving up. https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2021/06/bucks-nets-game-7-ratings-tnt-hawks-sixers-clippers-jazz-nba/ Quote On Sunday, Hawks-Sixers Game 7 averaged 6.16 million on TNT — ranking second for the postseason and third for the season overall. Per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Game 7 averaged a 13.22 rating in Atlanta, the nation’s #7 television market. Both games comfortably outdrew last year’s second round Game 7s in the “bubble” (Nuggets-Clippers: 5.43M; Raptors-Celtics: 4.69M). Compared to the second round Game 7s in 2019, Bucks-Nets could not quite match a Sunday night Sixers-Raptors game on TNT (6.94M), but topped a Sunday afternoon Blazers-Nuggets game on ABC (6.34M). Hawks-Sixers trailed both 2019 matchups. Bucks-Nets drew a 2.5 rating in adults 18-49, ranking third for the year in the demo — excluding football — behind college basketball’s national championship in April (4.2) and a much-hyped celebrity interview on CBS in March (2.7). Hawks-Sixers pulled a 2.3. By comparison, the April 25 Academy Awards had a 2.1. The Game 7s were television’s two most-watched primetime programs of the week on any network and comfortably topped the final round of golf’s U.S. Open on NBC (5.67M, per John Ourand of Sports Business Journal). Quote The Hawks say it’s the second best ratings in the team’s recorded history. The Hawks tight Game 7 win over the 76ers drew huge ratings in metro Atlanta. Steve Koonin, chief executive officer for the Hawks, said he expected good ratings, but they came in even stronger than he anticipated. The game averaged a 13.22 rating in metro Atlanta and a 15.21 rating in the fourth quarter. It peaked at 18.54 as the game came to a close with the Hawks closing out a 103-96 win. The Hawks are now in the Eastern Conference finals against the Bucks. “These are gargantuan numbers,” Koonin said, noting that a whopping 37% of TVs that were on Sunday night were tuned to the game in its final 15 minutes, according to Nielsen figures. The game averaged a 27% share of TVs over the entire game, a still impressive figure. Only one Hawks game has generated higher ratings that Koonin is aware of: game one of the 2015 Eastern Conference finals against the Cavaliers and LeBron James. The Hawks got swept in that series. The Hawks are going to get a lot more nationally televised games after this run. It'll be interesting to see what the ratings are with the Bucks. If they are still Big, the NBA will be pushing Trae even more. Edited June 22, 2021 by marco102
