In fact, I think the current situation will actually demand another move. Under no circumstance are they going to pay Gallo 20M next year, in my opinion. We can decline his $20 million and guarantee his $5 mill and resign him for more years at less money if he is amenable to such a deal, an MLE sort of deal.

When at his best, Johnson is a rarity at the G League level - a 6-9 forward who can impact the game all over the floor on both ends when engaged and not trying to do too much. I understand his impact on the offensive end, but on both ends? That's news to me. Unless they aren't talking about POSITIVE impact on both ends. I didn't think we could do that, that's why I was trying to trade him. If that's the case, I'm all for keeping Gallo on a more reasonable deal. Would he also be able to be signed and traded in a format like this? Or does it only work if he resigns with us?

I would think Gallo would command $12-$15 mil per in the upcoming market. I mean he'd sign with someone at that amount. We've had activity on him at $20 mil. He'll get offered more than the MLE regardless of his age for sure.
Popular Post marco102
I'm so impressed with what I've seen from Jalen on the defensive end this season. Heck, everything he's brought to the table. 2

Where he gives us similar versatility being a lob threat and accurate shooter. But then he's a better playmaker and maybe even defender down the line. His pick I don't think changes the need for us to resign John, but Jalen can play next to Okongwu off the the bench and allow us to flexible in the lineups we use to matchup with different teams. Right on! On 7/29/2021 at 11:37 PM, marco102 said: Schlenk has found his Draymond Green. Great defensive versatility, rebounder, and playmaking for his size. I'm a fan. If he ever becomes a shooter we may have found the steal of the draft. On 8/1/2021 at 12:55 PM, marco102 said: Agreed. I've watched more breakdowns of him and Sharife and the Hawks killed this draft. Jalen has two-way potential. I'd love to see him in the short roll when Trae is traped and then you have him passing it to a JC, Capela, Bogi, Huerter, Reddish, Gallo. I'm loving this pick more and more Sharife, I wasn't the highest on him at 20, but getting his type of talent at 48 is bonkers. The more film I watch, the more I believe he'll be one of, if not the, best backup point guards within the next two seasons. I can't wait to see these young guys in summer league. To be right and so wrong in one post. On 8/8/2021 at 11:39 AM, marco102 said: Charolette traded up in front of the Hawks to take Kai Jones. Maybe Charlotte had intel that we would take Kai? I would have probably preferred Kai on draft night as I believe he would be able to play with OO and JC in the future. However, Kai's floor is very low and he's very raw. We are probably looking at two years before he gets meaningful minutes. I believe Jalen will start contributing a little before Kai, but the long term fit if Kai hits would be better in my opinion. Oh Boy! On 8/27/2021 at 12:35 AM, marco102 said: I was personally really low on him by being a casual and not studying his film. After looking over the film and seeing him in summer league, I'm super excited to see how he grows in the next few years. He's def a top 10 lottery talent. I honestly didn't realize I was such a big Jalen stan in the beginning. Screw you Nate! 1 hour ago, JayBirdHawk said: Solo was right, guarding 1-5. I Very interesting reading back thru this thread. Popular Post benhillboy
Jalen has been the most impactful Hawk so far and it isn’t even close: Props to DJ as well, his on/ off was horrendous last season.

I thought Sharife was gonna be something as well, egg on face. Solo has such a high IQ. I think the NBA community overstates defensive versatility a lot, there‘s no player who can deter a quick guard and a True C off a shot attempt, not even Bam or JJJ who most point towards. I wouldn’t say Jalen can “guard” 1-5 but he certainly can “affect” 1-5. And that’s plenty good enough.
