Love Kevin but that just isn’t the case. Could represent problems if he wants to get paid as if he is currently or projects to be the third best player on the team. I’d love to see him outdo Bogi, Cam and Hunter (with them all playing well and developing as hoped) but I’m very skeptical of that. His game is more passive than you need from a #3. Popular Post RandomFan
Seems to me he's talking about being the third piece chronologically, which is true. First it was the drafting of JC. Then the next year Trae went before him, and Kevin was the 3rd drafted player in our rebuild. I highly doubt he's intending what he said to mean he thinks he's the 3rd best player on the roster. 5

He, JC and Trae are the 3 longest tenured Hawks after the roster was completely rebuilt under Schlenk. Those 3 were also at the center of our run last season considering all the injuries we had. Kev played the second most games on the team (67). And was probably asked to do the most of anyone. In and out of the starting lineup, guarding 3 positions and doing it well, playing on and off the ball. Kev may not be top 3 in talent, but his versatility and impact was vital for this teams success.

Seems like whenever they started together and played major minutes together, they won a lot. Even when Omari Spellman was here.

We scored like 141 points and beat the brakes off of whatever team we were playing. It happened again when Trae, Kevin, and Omari started. I really wished he would have kept his weight down and left those side chicks alone. Lol. 1 1

As starters it looks like they were 20-15 when all three started together. Additionally: Kev was 29-20 as a starter (.591) Trae was 36-27 as a starter (.571) JC was 34-29 as a starter (.540) 2

I bet it is similar the previous two years too.
Gray Mule
Spellman is/was talented. Food, more than anything else, was his downfall. A slimmer, sleeker Spellman would still be here, playing.

Popular Post thecampster
An update on the Huerter contract talks (I trust this about 50/50). This is more than you're getting now but less than you're asking for as far as information goes. The talks are very cordial. Both sides are engaged at the table but they aren't close....Not an angry not close, but still in a feeling each other out process. Word is Cam has continued to work in the offseason and it has weakened Huerter's position. Hunter's rehab has gone well and its weakened Kevin's position. But its not contentious, there is just nothing for anyone to stake their position on to hold the other's feet to the fire. The general feeling is Kevin is worth as much as $17+ million per on the open market if he has a good season. The Hawks want to keep him but at much less. That $17 million is a gamble though as injury or Cam's emergence could hurt Kev's value and neither side is willing to meet in the middle yet. There is no hurry. Don't expect a deal (or a choice to bet on himself) until right before the season starts. 2

Popular Post TheNorthCydeRises
The Hawks probably know that they're not going to be able to keep everybody. DeAndre Hunter is a valued commodity by most of us, including the Hawks front office. Cam's potential as a great 2-way player is also valued. But if either of them get hurt for an extended amount of time during this season, and Kevin stays healthy, Kevin needs to be the one that we place the priority on keeping. Until the other two do something like this to decide a playoff game ( not necessarily a playoff series ), Kevin may be the one that should be priority, He's a Hawks legend for this game alone. 3

bleachkit
I guess we are paying everybody. I suppose the thinking is even if someone does not work out, you can always trade them.
