With the bad faith situation in Philly.... would be so sweet if Silver forced Philly to make the trade that was on the table that they pulled off in bad faith.

If they found Philly had breached the rules and took action against them (definitely not a slam dunk), they would be MUCH more likely to prohibit Philly from trading for Harden than they would be to force Philly to make a trade with anyone.  I don't think they could force the trade.  Fines, picks, and barring certain actions are on the table if they find Philly to have broken the rules but not forcing them to take the next best offer, etc.

There are a number of possible consequences for Philly. They could be barred for "x" period of time from acquiring Harden, lose draft picks or be fined. It could also cause involved parties their job.  It would also give Simmons' agent cover to force a trade with league support. All of that is speculative though.

They can't force Philly to do anything but they can restrict the trade as they did with Milwaukee and Bogi. Even Bogi didn't know about it, it was his agent and MIL. He ended up with a better deal from Atlanta. 

The issue in this case is Brooklyn had no interest in the deal. 

Everyone tempers to a degree. It's just reported when its a player someone covets and they didn't feel they had a fair shot because of backroom deals unbeknownst to the masses around the league. 

Oh, here is a nugget. Brooklyn are willing to overpay this summer for Capela once they get a TPE for Kyrie.

Not really, them upping Simmons trade price really tipped teams off.

Another note: Capela is the only Hawk getting dollar on the dollar offers and it will likely be an overpay for a team to land him.

Note: the Hawks are expected to move him around FA, not the draft and maximize their value. 

Almost forgot, the Hawks aren't dying to move him either. So it will be by overpay only.

Whether they covered their tracks well or not, it is a pretty realistic scenario that we never see any public punishment of the team.  It is rare that the NBA actually enforces stuff like this in a public way.

To put any concerns to bed, I made a point of letting @AHF know about this 5 days ago to why the discussion was shut down a few days before.  Sothron and I both alluded to this 2 weeks ago (when it started simmering that I know about) and almost talked about it last week. This was the taken offline conversation.  Honestly, should have let @Sothron break it and should have discussed with him first before doing so. Due to a recent thread that shall rename nameless, I've taken to engaging trusted sources early.

Thanks, good to know.  I hope it is perceived as an "overpay" if we trade him because Capela is one of those guys that can be frustrating as hell to watch but as soon as he's gone you miss him badly.

Not going to over analyze anything Camp just gave us in his recent update but I find it very interesting IF there is POSSIBLY still a deal centered around Collins for Simmons.

Things change of course over time but if it’s truly still on table then the recent success (8 out of 9 games) didn’t persuade Schlenk as much as he’s letting on to the media BUT hey I’m just guessing not taking anything to heart.

We had basically a deal agreed with Philly and they pulled the offer off the table. That as you might imagine has the Hawks and other teams wanting a NBA investigation.  As @thecampster said Morey kept moving the goal posts not just for us but other teams. Meanwhile, Philly has been leaking other team's player name and causing all kind of locker room issues as a result of players being upset that they are on the trading bock.

You aren't supposed to talk about other team's players not just for tampering but for exactly this reason. You can basically soft lob a morale grenade into other team's locker rooms and relationships by doing shady stuff like what Morey has done.
