New Jake Fischer Report

I imagine you guys have seen the new Jake Fischer article about Harden. Within that article there are some Atlanta hawks rumors:

• Hawks remain interested in Ben Simmons but are uninterested in taking on Tobias Harris contract. Searching for a third team to facilitate trade.
• Hawks are a suitor for Jerami Grant
• Hawks are "actively searching for a new home" for John Collins

Actively searching for a star player to trade using Collins as the necessary cost of losing a good player to get a better player is a better way to describe it.

JC is better in every way than Grant.

Grant's 22 ppg in Detroit is about his high usage rate - he'll go back to being a 12 ppg scorer if here in Atlanta.  So a Grant trade makes zero sense.  Plus, he is looking for an 4yr/$112 million dollar extension. So this trade makes ZERO sense.

....and he apparently has a LIST of teams he wants to get traded to. SMH.  Bold Cotton, Bold.

Man what's the deal with JC.    Travis could shut down these rumors but they have to be a big distraction.

I’m worried that there may be some truth to all these rumors about JC. We heard similar rumors leading up to the Cam trade and we all thought it was just click bait and that we’d only trade him for a star. I wonder if JC is sick of all the rumors and all the other stuff about not running plays for him and asked for a trade.

There were also rumors this time last year about the Hawks looking to move Collins since we didn't want to pay him.  Hawks paid him though.

I understand trading him for superior talent, downgrading the talent makes less than ZERO sense.

I think we tried to move him last year though.   We just didn't get much offered.  In the end i think we ended up paying more than anyone would have offered him but wanted to avoid the negatives of just waiting and matching.  I agree though i just don't see anything that i feel like makes us a lot better.   

The role he fills on this team is perfect for his skill set.   I guess the problem is he wants more of a role but i don't see that happening anywhere honestly.   Either you're a scoring guard/wing or a dominant post up big man in order to get a lot of usage and he's neither.

Grant only makes sense for us if we ship Bogi and maybe a pick. Anything more than that then it's a net loss for the team.

Even the discussion of a JC for Grant deal falls in the worst category of bad writer speculation.  "Their salaries match....sooooo....let's talk about it like it's real!"  Teams always, always have Atlanta giving away their talent for a song to perceived bigger market teams in these discussions.  

Wow!  You mean I can get Jerami Grant of his 41% FG% and 33% 3pt% and subpar rebounding for the low, low price of only the vastly superior John Collins?  And wait there's more?  Grant is 3.5 years older and a free agent looking to get hella overpaid after next season?   Where do I sign up for this action?
