Official Game Thread: Hawks at Mavericks

This was a tough stretch of games, not gonna lie. Ugly loss tonight. tough loss on Friday. Glad we were at least able to beat the Suns and not get swept this weekend.

3 games under .500 on the season. We have to get our minds right. Stop letting these winning streaks take away from the fact that we are a LONG way from righting the ship.

The issue is mediocre guards. Delon is not a real PG. Neither KH or Bogi are impactful enough. Nor are they explosive. They are better suited for a different era.

Bogi is slow and cannot create well, his offensive role should be similar to Klay Thompson, but his defense is bad... his production and efficiency in the 2H of last year was an anomaly, not the norm, unfortunately.  There is a reason people want Ben Simmons on this team and its because he fills a huge gap we have offensively and he plays elite defense.  Obviously the fit is not perfect, just commenting on how he shores up some weaknesses we consistently see.

For some reason this feels like one of the worst losses of the season. They had an entire quarter to take control of this game and did the opposite. Absolutely no sense of urgency or killer instinct. Are they really trying to get to that 6th spot or are they satisfied with being a play-in team? It feels like the level of play really trailed off after they got that 10th spot.

Dallas was playing very physically (ie fouling like crazy) and our shots were not falling. We needed to do a better job to punish them inside where it was easy to score instead of settling for jumpers we weren't hitting.

The goal now is to get to .500 before the All-Star break.

3 home games vs Indiana, San Antonio, and Cleveland

2 road games vs Boston and Orlando

 

It's more than doable to win 5 straight, but we need at least 4 out of 5.

If bogi, kev and Dre aren’t hitting 3s. As of now they are providing no positive value to this team. 
 

Dre has potential. Kevin is too hot and cold for me to be a full time starter. Excellent glue guy / bench piece. bogi is what he is if he is not hitting shots.

Is this the worst shooting game all season? 39%, 20% from 3.  EFG 39%

That was so painful to watch.  We were straight BRICKING shots too...

These guards are just too limited. That includes Hunter, KH and Bogi. You need one guard that can actually get to the basket.

Other teams don't have to worry about anyone other than Trae attacking the basket.

Well.....this was dissapointing.

We aren't winning a ton of games with Trae scoring 17 points if at least one our wings won't get 20+ points.

We aren't winning shooting 5-25 from 3

We aren't winning if we aren't rebounding.

The bench seems to have fallen back to earth.

What happened to Clint and OO?

Luka is a versatile player and that can matter in a game like this. And it did.

Tree's small frame limits him when he tries to take over in a game like this. Against a tougher and physical defense.

They've gotten the best they will get out of Clint. Has he been impressive this year at all?
