Hi Squawkers Join me in some ..... Crazy Thoughts...

What if we took this team.... and they entered into a place where they could make one trade for anyHawk (at the same position/rank)... Don't worry this is a series of crazy thougts

Today's crazy thought....

What would this team be... if we could trade Bogi for Joe Johnson in his prime...

Could that team win a title?  What is the dynamic that you see between Joe and Trae?  Would we be better offensively?  Would we be better defensively?  Would we be better period?

Joe would be a terrible fit next to Trae but Hunter for Toni Kukoc in his prime.....hmmmm? Or for that matter Nique???

Steve Smith in his prime would be interesting next to Trae.

At the 4?  Prime Kevin Willis would be a terrible fit in this era but I'd still be intrigued. Willis would get 20 rebounds a game in this era.

I think it would work on all fronts. Remember his 6th man days with the Suns playing with Nash. We'd be much better defensively as well with his size and length

Joe could handle the ball (ISO Joe) but was also a willing passer.  Joe also hit big shots and buzzer beaters.

But could you eloborate why Joe won't work next to Trae?

I agree with that especially the Joe was a willing passer.   Joe was also a really big guard...that played defense.. something that we lack right now.   In one of his best years with us, he shot 38% from 3, scored 25 ppg, and had about 4.4 apg (his low - he was normally around 6 apg).   one of our best years with Joe, We had Mike Bibby.. he scored 21.5ppg and shot 36% from 3.

This has to be Nique for Hunter right?    Or how about Collins for Bob Petit?   Capela for Mutombo?

Those are other crazy thoughts...

You have to think.. how would those old guys translate to today's game.. But those will come.  The Crazy Thought #1 is Joe for Bogi.

A new Wrinkle to Crazy Thoughts is that you have to pick the year of the player that you are trading for:

The Year I choose is Bogi for 2007-2008 Joe Johnson.

I think this leads to a great collaboration with Trae.

This guy... Who lead the Hawks to a game 7 against the mighty Celtics that won the NBA finals...
