The Holiday Brothers are Nate's guys. He gave them big minutes when he was a coach for Indy in 19-20. 1

Popular Post thecampster
1 minute ago, AHF said: Just to contextualize this statement, Holiday shoots less than 40% from the field for his career (he shot less than 35% in Sacramento last year although that was somewhat SSS and an outlier so I won't hold that against him too hard) so he isn't really much of a shooter either. If he can hit the 3 at a decent rate, hopefully he can enjoy the type of efficiency that he did in the 2020 and 2021 seasons and not what he has had over his overall career. I expect he will be shooting little other than wide open jumpers. Harkless on the other hand is much better than Holiday at getting to the rim and that is where he does his "damage" (probably overstating it) on offense. Harkless is a bum (IMHO) and I'll be perfectly happy when we pay one of those excess 2nd round picks for someone to take him off our hands. There are better players to be had at a vet minimum right now. He was salary to get the deal done and nothing else. What we get with Harkless is a salary that can be packaged with a trade exception to bring back a $7-10 million player. I don't expect him here for the first game of the season. I don't expect him here in 3 weeks. I could be wrong on both. I love Kevin and in 3 years he is going to all make us wish we'd never done this deal but he plays scared 90% of the time. Both Huerter and Griffin would be competing for the same minutes at backup small forward this year....Griffin weighs 24 lbs more than Kevin.....Kevin plays like it. We went light at the 1 and 2 guard and needed some bulk to make up for that. I'm going to miss him but Holiday's stats are almost identical to Kevin's with much better defense. Kevin has a better ball on the floor, get to the basket game but do we really need that with Murray and Trae on the floor together. Kevin became expendable for our new tougher, dawg mentality and I hate it. He was mine and my wife's second favorite Hawk and I'll miss him. But this is a very good trade for us in this moment, right now.

For now, I'm content for him to be more of the latter... I'm nervous enough with Travis outside of his strength as a draft guy... not the time for a newby to be calling any shots, not by a long one.
NekiEcko
@thecampster Can we added Harkless to any trade right now or we have to wait? But I am sad that Huerter is not going to be here but I think this a precursor to a bigger trade in my opinion

gurpilo
For those that are against Huerter trade, having Bogi and Huerter was a problem. You need to play them both significant minutes, basically they will be on the court at the same time, good shooting and bad defense and lack of strength and that is a problem. They were redundant and one needed to go so that you don’t need to play both. Holiday basically provides good shooting and better defense and can also play SF. with one of them gone we can play more balanced combinations Trae/Murray/ Hunter A. Holiday/Bogi/J. Holiday Murray/Bogi/J. Holiday Young/J. Holiday/Hunter Young/Bogi/Hunter

And Atlanta has to add one of Coop or Martin to the squad and the other to 2 way since Brown already has the other 2 way spot. Right now, that's looking like Martin as he keeps us out of the LT due to being a rookie minimum and Coop already has an offer for another two way deal like Mays had last year.

This isn't quite as crazy risky as it looks on paper to me. They have a long time to work through this without a lot of risk of losing any piece of their core. Well, as we've seen throughout the NBA, no team REALLY controls any max level player throughout their contract. Brooklyn "controls" KD right now as well. NO controlled AD for another couples years. Philly controlled Simmons for 4 more years, etc. I think Minny made the right move because it's tough being a small market team, but they have Ant for cheap for another couple years and they are making the most of that. Ballsy trade imo but I respect it even if I do think it's very risky.

Unlike Atlanta (where Murray is an UFA in 2 years), they control Gobert, Antman and Towns through at least 2026. Minnesota will never get any free agents to come there...just about like atl

Holiday Murray/Bogi/J. Holiday Young/J. Holiday/Hunter Young/Bogi/Hunter I like Kevin the person. I don't know how many moves are left to be made but if we roll out this roster, Bogi is absolutely the better player today than Kevin. When he is on, he is an absolute beast compared to Kev. K'Von made cameo appearances every now and then, but otherwise was a no call no show for us in big moments. Bogi honestly may have the biggest pair on the team outside of Trae. He is ot afraid of the moment. His only issue is health. We shall see where things go from here.
