Who would we want from those teams that's a win now player?

Heat: Bam (Not happening, and other heat players aren't worth john imo)

Kings: Kings want Barnes probably, I'd only want Sabonis for John

Jazz: ???

I hope we don't make some silly trade of John just for the sake of making one. I really don't know what a good return player for him would be.

Perhaps Harrison Barnes and the Kings pick next year? The pick would probably be pretty high knowing that franchise... and we'd have money to spend.

Cap space to sign Ayton and a 1st would be dope AF. Especially if we could get a solid backup big out the deal.

We basically have to resign Murray because of how much we gave up.

I'd say we basically have to rise to legitimate contender status for the next two years, and actually make a Finals appearance in one of them.

But if we fail, then in two years that's it's own new where-do-we-go-from-here analysis. If we don't, and if Murray has performed as we are hoping/anticipating, of course, Ressler will have to make good on his claim that he'll pay tax for core pieces.

This may have been the dopest post in Squawk history. To know that the team hears all our crazy ish just made my day.

Trae you been my boy since before Day 1.

Hunter we still believe in you becoming baby Kawhi.

Let’s go Hawks.

Agreed! That was one of the best post I’ve read on here ever. I honestly almost cringed because I don’t want our insiders to EVER get in trouble…I think @Sothron should have revealed this to the long time squawk members only possibly.

Delete that post if you need to Soth! We can’t afford you or the other two losing your connections.

Wow ton of stuff, crazy Atl has a superstar with pull to get another star.

Thank you v much for the updates sir 🐝

Crazy!…I’ve been waiting for years for a star player in Atlanta to go reach out and pull other stars here! I’m still shocked the deal got done. Trae is going to be a damn legend here in ATL. It took way too long to find a superstar in the making who actually cares this city.

I wonder what the heat would actually be willing to offer for collins. Kings and jazz don’t have anyone of interest in my opinion.

Do you think acquiring Murray will change his mind?

From what I gather from @Sothron,  he has never asked for a trade, he was kept in the loop about possible trade, he was ok with moving on.  He has publicly maintained his preference to stay in Atlanta (at the trade deadline this year)

Honestly, I have no clue why it would be thought wise to totally gut your PF slot on your depth chart. It is one of the most frustrating things I've seen that these rumors continue to come one right after the other. I have to have said it 37 times by now... I want John here, but dang, I hate to see anyone of his youth, and positivity, and talent level continually dragged through this... I don't like watching him tortured, and this is torture. I can't make any sense of it. I want him traded, not for us, but for him. He doesn't deserve this crap. Do I sound angry? Yeah, I'm angry.

So now I can talk a bit more freely...

In the insider only conversation I call your attention to this posted June 9th well before the draft and rumors about Murray:

Reached out after my last post. All he can say is we have a deal on the table for an All Star player but he won't say who it is. I asked him was it Ben Simmons and he paused and said I can't say any more and ended the talk.

I don't want to go through all the things that @NBASupesand @thecampster and myself broke on here over just this season. But we have kept you guys and gal well in the loop before any of this broke on national news.  I only mention this because we have some people who feel the need to interrupt threads with their doubts or trying to call us out for one reason or the other.

With that off my chest...

Ressler is far more hands on that he lets on. I can show it in one spot here from the insider only conversation:

I'm hearing that Travis is using Trae to talk to guys

So Trae went to bat for Ressler and Travis to go talk to guys. Trae flat out recruited Murray to come play in Atlanta and to tell SAS he wanted to come to Atlanta. When Trae tweeted earlier this month that "this is the summer that changes everything" he knew then that Murray was coming to Atlanta.

What was the hold up in the trade? Pops. He wanted OO included in the deal. And once that wasn't going to happen he wanted 4 firsts. Travis held the line. The back and forth was over pick protection and pick swaps. SAS wanted 4 firsts and 2 pick swaps once we made it clear OO was off the table. The compromise was the deal you all saw.

There are more moves coming. I have two sources and my old source that is now my "new" source again is a more generic NBA source. This source told me that the feeling around the NBA is you NEVER trade two firsts with no protection unless you get an All NBA player back. And this source said we overpaid for Murray but felt it was a necessary cost.

I did get an update on Capela. He has went from "100% gone" to "most likely to be gone" only from Trae's campaign to keep him AND that Trae delivered to Ressler/Travis on delivering Murray. Both Ayton and Gobert are still options. The feedback they got from Gobert was worse than Ayton. Sources stopped short of calling him a team cancer but it wasn't good.

Our FO and owner are doing backflips over getting Murray. The feeling is even if we did nothing else (we will, don't freak out) the team right now with Murray just put us into a 50+ win territory.  The idea is to split ballhandling with Trae/Murray and to rotate minutes to we have at least one of them on the court 48 minutes a game. It means our team will always have an elite playmaker at all times.

Ressler, Travis and some of the coaching staff and players are here on the Squawk. Some are lurkers and some are members. Just letting you all know. They DO pay attention to what we say. I was told that my post about "This is the most disappointing season in Hawks history" in the last season and everyone's responses was circulated around by Ressler. He was legit furious about the team's play and he has become more hands on ever since then. Ressler literally mandated this team get substantially better before next season. He told Travis to bring in at least one All Star.

So we do have a team that does listen to its real fans. They don't care about other sites but they care about the Squawk. It is another reason why the insiders here have to be careful in what we post because the Hawks ARE trying to found out who our sources are and put a stop to the leaks.

I think we should open a new thread and close this one to talk about free agency and summer moves.

Hell, I knew Ressler and Schlenk had to be on here when we drafted Cam Reddish. I was like ain’t no way, we never had a FO actually select a player that we all wanted before. Not since Horford and Acie Law. (Yes, don’t act like ALL of us didn’t think he was the next DWade lol)

Even resigning Solo and Lou last summer was a little too good to be true. I’ll take credit (shame) for the Kris Dunn signing. I was pushing his bandwagon heavy that offseason. My bad y’all

Who says no besides Toronto and Supes?

Collins, OO, and Huerter or Bogi for Siakim

Capela for Ayton sign and trade

Resign Delon Wright and bring in an enforcer who won't play much and won't take sheesh from anybody, a guy with a couple of screws loose.

The only problem I see would be the yearly tax issue, even though cap will increase tremendously within the next 3 to 4 years. Dejounte Murray and Pascal Siakim would both be unrestricted free agents in 2024.
