I'm pumping the brakes on JJ. He needed real NBA minutes last year, he's learning on the fly & going through an incubation period we would have otherwise had last season.

Don't know why all the hype over a 6'8" PF that the organization keeps trying to make fill the center role.

AND Schlenk just put a band aid on a bullet wound this past off season instead of getting some defenders with length to help Clint. People always complain about him but he's battling 3 and 4 guys night in and night out.

Going all-in on Murray was the right call.  Finding and signing role playing shooters who can knock down shots, is a must.

I know a free agent who played last year that could help the Hawks.

He shot 44% FG and 37.5% from 3.   And he plays the 4, the same spot where we're getting zero production from our young player right now.

IDK man. I like him, but Trae/Murray is small as hell and neither is a great shooter.... So we're small in the backcourt and small in the frontcourt...... Too bad Cam Reddish didnt work out... smh

OO been good for us at the 4 or 5 or whatever we ask him to do. Why do you mention him when he's the only Hawk who's had a positive +/- all year.

On the bright side

Delon Wright looked pretty bad last year to start off the season and blossomed into one of the most solid players on the team. 

Im gonna give us at least 10 more games I guess.. lol

Here's something drastic for Nate to consider instead of his the 9 is the 9 rotation plan:

Trae/DJ, AJ, JJ, OO and Frank.

I'm not really that alarmed by this game because it's clear there's a lot of room to improve on offense and defense, but a few things to watch in my opinion:

• Trae's 3P shooting, 25% on the season now.  Is he going to keep taking difficult 3s? 
• Trae off-ball activity:  related to the above, I was hoping he would get cleaner higher % shots this year with Murray but I haven't seen anything to suggest Nate can coach him to play off-ball effectively.  Feels like they just take turns running PG while one stands in the corner and rotates to bail out a busted play.
• I think Aaron Holiday has been O.K. as a backup PG but he has no confidence out there.  Lazy passes and mistakes, clearly a little lost running plays, hopefully with time he will be improved.
• Nothing has been impressive about Justin Holiday to me so far... he's been getting A LOT of very open looks and honestly just reminds me of TLC
• Murray had sloppy TOs but I trust he'll clean that up (otherwise decent game from him)
• Collins had a bad shooting night but I'm less worried he will recover from that than Holiday/Holiday
• Hunter had a really nice defensive game but wasn't incorporated into the offense very effectively
• Nate's refusal to play JJ last year is showing up this year.  And the argument is always defense but guys will never learn to play team defense without getting minutes.  On top of just not utilizing guys that might be helpful to the squad, the worse part of Nate's bias against young guys is that we're wasting their talents while they're CHEAP.  I hope AJ gets more burn -- but I'm afraid Nate will fall in love with the Holiday brothers like he did TLC and solomon hill
• Last, but not least, and this is more than just a bullet...
  
  I'm just concerned with our overall offensive philosophy under Nate and his ability to coach a dynamic PG like Trae, especially when you add another ball handler like Murray into the mix.  Our offense is so vanilla it hurts.  Nate's open rejection of analytics is really concerning to me (particularly because I feel it's a point of pride for him being old school).  We run plays for mid-rangers that you need to be making 55-60% of to just score at a league average rate.  We don't have Kevin Durant on our team, or Aldridge, or CP3.  And the fact that's a focus of our offense is showing in our 3P% (so far).  I just worry our entire offensive approach is outdated -- the Hornets shot selection was so much better than ours, which imo was partially the reason they shot so much better.  They splashed their open 3s and moved the ball to get easy dunks/layups all game long.  They had 62 points in the paint to our 52.  
   

Obviously it's still super early, so I'm not drawing any conclusions yet but above are the things I'll be watching as the season progresses.  A ton of stuff to improve on, but I think we can work things out and be a top 4 seed.

Trae is always gonna be ass off the ball in terms of movement. He has no stamina off the ball and just like to stand around begging for the ball back. Nate or whoever you want to coach will never get more than that out of Trae. It is what it is.
