I don't think he's a bust.  It was just a really terrible draft.  At least he's a rotation player.  Some of those guys drafted after him sure aren't.

And would the Hawks have drafted Haliburton even if they picked #12 instead of #6?  I doubt it.

He's just fine for where he was drafted. Only a handful of All-stars and Superstars weren't projected to be that coming into the league.

Most scouts saw him for what he is, a smaller defensive big who needs to develop a jump shot before they can be considered an option on offense. Nobody had him pegged as a future All-Star, which is ok. Plenty of players are never All-Stars. He's playing behind Clint Capela, one of the best Centers in the game, and John Collins. He will be getting more time to shine when one of them is unfortunately traded in a few weeks.

He's not a bust.  I'm still keeping an eye on Killian and Deni, but my preference would have been making a strong play to move up for Melo.  If that wasn't there, I would have preferred we trade the pick.  As for where we are now, I think he's a starting quality FC with some room to grow.  That's goodish for a #6 pick I guess?

I've said it over and over again that I'm not interested in trading anyone on this team.  However, that was before I realized that we don't make basketball based decisions around here.  We'll ride with Nate into the play-in, if we're lucky, and we'll make a cost-saving move or two that are in the better interests of the company.

In light of that, we're going nowhere fast.  Since winning isn't important, we should look to maximize the return on the assets we have.  Especially with the guys who can still be sold on potential.  Though, there's a limited window where you can dangle a player before the shine wears off.  We're getting close to that point with OO and maybe past that point with Hunter.

Unfortunately, I don't think we'll do much of anything as it looks like we've saved a little "WLOC sauce" from previous regimes...

There was a lot of chatter about us taking Haliburton at that time.  Maybe some saw him in the DJ role?

OO didn't like this thread, .

7-7, 8 rebounds, 1 st, 1 blk in the 1st quarter vs Indy.

And getting a side dish helping from Trae. But let the haters tell it...

When the hell did you step into the Big O @sturt (ya I don’t care) fan club ☀️:er: The doormen didn’t say anyone was there?

I like Big O.  I just think he has a lot of simple things he needs to work on.    But if he can rebound the way he did tonight, we can win a few more games.
