I'm just enamored with him. One of these days the Squawk will do another game meetup. I always wanted to pop in and make everyone feel awkward by calling them by their forum tags IRL. It was the weirdest thing when I met @Sothron for the first time BTW. LOL We introduced ourselves by our forum tags and it felt...so wrong when he called me Wretch. lol I was like, "Yeah, but nooo let's not do that..." In my mind I was like, "Well, damn...he's only been calling me that for like a decade, so I guess it is my name." Hearing it out loud for the first time was bananas...like, am I really that pretentious? "Oh Wretched Evil One...!" It isn't that big a deal bro seriously. I've got people IRl here in Columbus who call me Soth, Sothy or Sothron and they know my name, they know Mrs. Sothron and yes we're friends. It is all good. I'd love to hang out with you again. Its been too long!
Premium Member Popular Post Sothron Posted June 20, 2023 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted June 20, 2023 Forgive me I can't keepup with the trhead. If this has been said before forgive me. Hawks are not giving anyone away. Tony Ressler has hesitated about paying the LT for next season but it sounds like he is willing to pay it even if we keep the same team. Why? Because he doesn't want basketball operations to give people away that have value just to save him money. The KH trade from last season was a massive black eye and Ressler knows it. So what does this mean? It means these nutty rumors about JC and Capela in particular being given away for a ham sammich and a half flat can of soda can be ignored. JC and Capela have real value. Capela has higher value. The team *wants* to start OO next season at center. Team has inquired about every upgrade at non PG spot. Team wants to make DJM work. That being said they have been given real offers for DJM. It is mostly here's a decent young guy that could start and future firsts to replace your lost firsts. Trae is going nowhere. This should be obvious. The strategy is to build around. This is his franchise. He is 100% into Atlanta and wants to win a chip here. Teams are also trying to pry Bey, OO, Jalen and AJ away from us. If we upgrade the frontcourt which is the plan then at least one of them would be moved. 1

The only Hawk I wish we could move tbh is Hunter. He just happens to have a skill set we have no one on the roster that can replace. It is infuriating.
Spud2nique
The Hawks are “known to be interested” in Duke big man Dereck Lively and have spoken to Dallas about trades involving the No. 10 pick, according to Stein. While Stein doesn’t go into detail about how the possibility of Atlanta landing Lively would affect the team’s current big men, such as center Clint Capela, that frontcourt would be getting awfully crowded.

That would be a good issue to have but the only way I see Lively making any kind of instant impact is if his 3pt shooting instantly transitions over to real nba games. I think the other gifts he has displayed with defense and passing ability has a high chance of showing impact instantly …not lock down of course but perhaps good enough to get some quality minutes right from the start. but again if his shooting transitions over to actual nba games immediately…he’s a lock to start for the hawks because that opens the floor up for Trae, DJ, Collins. 1

I haven't heard anything that makes us whole. Meaning we will miss what we lost in Hunter. There just aren't many capable two way big wings and everyone including us needs them. Then again, I really like Dre and think what he does is valuable to winning Basketball, especially in the playoffs. Most big wings just don't end up worth a bag of beans, even the ones I like out of college. Dre is at least a solid player. That's important In a position where after 12, you have mainly backups in the top 30 ranking list. 4

I know Ayton is polarizing and expensive. If he got engaged with the offense regularly, I could see him becoming a force. Also, he could play in a tandem with Okongwu and allow Okongwu to still get minutes at the 5 with Ayton on the bench. I understand why people are down on Ayton, but very few guys bring his size and skill to the table. 1

I spoke on Ayton earlier but Atlanta been reluctant. PHX really wants Capela but they aren't the only one or close. Truth is, the reality of JC will decide if Atlanta does a deal with PHX for Ayton.

Admin Popular Post capstone21 Posted June 20, 2023 Admin Popular Post Report Share Posted June 20, 2023 0 interest in Ayton. Way too expensive for what he brings. Dude gives no effort out there… a waste of talent and he does not try at all on D. It would be a step backwards for us. I also think his laziness and poor attitude will also effect the locker room
NBASupes
Both of those teams are reluctant on Ayton. Boston and Atlanta. There are teams interested but PHX wants a legit center and depth piece in return.

I also think his laziness and poor attitude will also effect the locker room He's always been overrated, even as a draft prospect. He always gets a pass because he is 7 foot and athletic. He was never as good as Jaren Jackson Jr from that draft, as a prospect nor as a NBA player. We have fans that can't get over the fact that you don't have to be 7 foot to play center in the NBA.
