Yes he was but that doesn’t erase the fact that he didn’t do anything before . Ant is the one who gives KAT multiple chances in the last 2 years.

No offense against you, but I'm about tired of this excuse too.  We haven't TRIED to build around Trae.  We've literally done nothing outside of the DJ trade.

The front office messed up, re-signing every single piece of our core group, despite the "team friendly" deals they signed.

Absolutely was good work by the FO.  They need to be pursuing all high level players to determine cost and then assess if it's a good move for us or not.  As fans, we do not know the full cost of getting players when discussions are happening, and in situations where a player is an expiring, we don't know what went into those deals until the extension is offered, as that is obviously a critical part of the acquisition (knowing what the player will demand as an extension).  Toronto did not want to give him a max extension but it looks like the Pacers are willing.

I watched ... he played well in second half ... he is very slow getting up the court and he has no lift.  Got his shot blocked a number of times.  He is a good player but not the right piece for the Hawks.  We will not improve with him as one of our top salary players.

Late to the recent discussion party (which appears to be more of the same arguing, although feels like last summer with the KAT discussion resurfacing), but I digress.  Did anyone actually scoop/report the interest with Detroit or was that just a hypothetical discussion?  I know Detroit doesn't have a lot of draft capital, but they do have some intriguing pieces.  I like Ivey, but question his fit next to Trae (another undersized combo guard), but Thompson's defensive ability intrigues me, even if his offense is brutal right now.  Grimes is someone I've liked going back to last year's trade deadline.  I like the possibility of Fournier's expiring, but that's alot to pay someone to ride the pine.  I'd rather keep Clint if that were the case.  Getting #5 for someone like Matas, Salaun or another prospect is cool, but I think we have to get someone that can step in and fit next to Trae ASAP to maximize his talents and keep him in Atlanta.  He's the  best thing we've had since Nique and I feel our time is getting close to either win or lose him.

KAT makes some dumb fouls though which very much limited his court time.   Of course he got screwed on some of them.  Still outside of getting real hot from 3 his offense was iffy i thought.  But there again getting real hot from three is the best offense so...

We're not getting KAT. The main reasons Taylor turned down the Arod sale is the team is worth a lot more now than when he initially agreed to sell his shares and the new ownership would IMMEDIATELY trade players to get out of the luxury tax. That's already been confirmed.

Glen Taylor has waited decades to have another team with a contending window. He's not going to sell majority ownership, still would have been an owner, and watched them dismantle the team. He's willing to pay the LT. So KAT is going nowhere.

Honestly, for me that's a relief.  Although, his performance has been lackluster and Taylor might want to get some players that can further make the team better.

I can’t argue lol.  He needs to stay where he is.  D Wade took a significant pay cut to help the franchise, it’s Jimmy’s time now.  Or at least have his contract heavily loaded with performance threshold incentives or whatever @JayBirdHawk and @capstone21 declare what can and can’t be done with his deal.

 I finally agree with you that Pat needs to fall all the way the f&@k back and let Zo take over so they can acquire an actual True C with a pulse.  Then send Rozier on a one way shuttle to Neptune.  Is that still a planet?

That was my guy 3 months ago he was slated going at 9 or 10, then we won the lottery and it became like the 4th or 5th pick in most mocks. I like him a lot I just don’t feel we can draft Sarr at 1, then get him at 5, I mean, I dunno Trae is ready to win now, at the same time young player have been stepping up in big roles lately look at J Williams in OKC, dude is scary good, I thought he would be solid but he’s over exceeded my expectations.

I figured this would be the case if they made the deep run into the playoffs.

The Minnesota Timberwolves project to have one of the NBA's most expensive teams next season. The Wolves have nearly $191 million in guaranteed salary on their books for nine players. That figure is already over the projected second apron of $189.5 million, before the team finishes filling out the roster.

That sort of spending is unprecedented in Minnesota's history. However, as the team's ownership battle plays out, both sets of owners indicate they'll pay to keep the team together.

Glen Taylor, who retains majority ownership of the Wolves, and Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez have each given the impression that they won't break the team up because of the tax. The challenge is that the second apron makes building out the rest of the roster a major challenge. That could eventually force the team's hand in making some changes to alleviate the high payroll.

Intel

1. Nothing on the Hawks front other than they really like Knecht, Edey, Clingan, Risacher, Sarr, and Matas. Edey, Knecht, and Matas are guys they are looking at if they move down from 1. I am told Clingan is getting serious looks at 1 from Atlanta as well. Many teams believe Risacher is likely who Atlanta will take. 

2. Clingan is the hottest player in this class aside from Risacher. He's getting a lot of calls. I am told, Houston feels they will be able to trade down. 

3. Most teams have Sarr, Risacher, or Sheppard as their top prospect. No one has Clingan but I am told that teams are trying to move up for Risacher and Clingan but no one is trying to move up for Sarr or Sheppard. This always says something because it means teams don't see Sarr as someone who can help them right now. More of a long term play but teams are willing to give up future assets for Risacher and Clingan. 

4. Edey ceiling is currently at 10 and his floor is at 21. Memphis is a wild card. They are mainly open to moving up for Clingan. 

5. Washington has pretty much let it be known that it's Risacher or Sarr. Who's left is who they want unless both are available which from what I've been told isn't highly likely. 

6. LA may use their 1st on Bronny James. The fear is if Phoenix drafts him, Bron will leave to play for the vet min on a stacked squad leaving LA in an awful position with no 2025 1st.
