NBA fined them a couple 2nd round picks. Circumventing the salary cap with a handshake deal is a no-no! Real punishment for Sixers would be on the table. Here's another thing, remember all the rumors early last season about Harden going back to Houston? So he would have walked away from his handshake deal with Morey? Mmmmmmm. Something stinks!!! They deserve each other! And we're off..... 2

I was reading “Ben has spent quality time this summer with Head Coach…” and I was thinking wow, I’ve never heard of a psychologist described as a head coach before. Must be a sports thing“ then I continued to read Jacque Vaughn’s name

Unfair to put AD in with those guys. AD played more games than LeBron last year and led the team in the advanced metrics. Example: 9.0 win shares for AD versus 5.6 win shares for LeBron. AD also led the team in playoff win shares and they made the conference finals. Not even close to the same as Zion and Ben.

When he is there he is big impact but he could miss big chunks of the season as well and screw your season. If you are betting, you should probably expect him to miss 2 out of 5 games over the course of the season. (He has been better than that for his career but worse than that over his last 3 seasons.) His health is what keeps him from being in the discussion for top 10 player in the game but he can bring that impact when he is on the court. I would trade guys like CC, JC, etc. for him all day every day even knowing his health could tank a season because his presence could also mean Trae and co in the finals. Unlike Ben and Zion, I don’t think he has ever been healthy and refused to play because he wasn’t mentally up to it.

On the bolded, there are folks that think a large reason for his lack of availability is because he's soft-minded, in a way. Like the constant fall, grimace, head to locker room "injured", only to re-emerge later after realizing instead of an amputation all he needed was some ice. His mental hang-up is understanding not all pain means injury. Some could argue he is indeed missing time because he's not mentally up to it. Just another man's interpretation but I do agree with your overall point.
Premium Member JayBirdHawk Posted August 21, 2023 Author Premium Member Report Share Posted August 21, 2023 The timing of the Sixers making that declaration could have been dictated by the Los Angeles Clippers moving on from trade talks. The Sixers did not see a market materialize for Harden beyond the Clippers. "One of the things that happened here is I think the Clippers had decided there was no trade," said Brian Windhorst on his podcast. "I think the Clippers were going to move on from it and at least from talking to Philly about it. I think the only option Philly had at the time was the Clippers and so when that never got off the ground, from what I understand. They had multiple conversations... You can see the two rosters. You can see what the trade pieces are. You can understand why they wouldn't [do a trade]. "As long as Philly wasn't interested in taking some assets from the Clippers and then making an offer, probably with Tyrese Maxey for Damian Lillard, I don't see how a Clipper trade makes a ton of sense for them anyway. "I think what ticked James off was that they announced they wanted to bring him back and he was reacting to that more than anything." Unless they put it in writing like the Joe Smith fiasco. The real story here is the outsiders are claiming this one. Check the last update. Clearly we're Sham's source. Premium Member JayBirdHawk Posted August 24, 2023 Author Premium Member Report Share Posted August 24, 2023 You’ve got to see the dynamics,” he said. “How the coach is going to be, how we’re going to be together. At the end of the day, I feel like all my teammates know and the organization knows that I want to win a championship. As long as we’re on the same page with that and you show me and we go together to win a championship, I’m all for it. The moment I feel like, oh, yeah, we’re trying to rebuild —” He paused briefly before continuing. “There will never be hard feelings with the Milwaukee Bucks,” he said. “I believe that we’ve had 10 unbelievable years, and there’s no doubt I gave everything for the city of Milwaukee. Everything. Every single night, even when I’m hurt. I am a Milwaukee Buck. I bleed green. I know this. “This is my team, and it’s going to forever be my team. I don’t forget people that were there for me and allowed me to be great and to showcase who I am to the world and gave me the platform. But we have to win another one.” He is halfway to his goal of playing 20 N.B.A. seasons, and he said he would like to spend them with one team, the way Dirk Nowitzki, Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan did. “But at the end of the day, being a winner, it’s over that goal,” he said. “Winning a championship comes first. I don’t want to be 20 years on the same team and don’t win another championship.”
