If Clingan is considered for #1 we are doomed

The Atlanta Hawks are not trying to win.  This shouldn't even be a conversation.  Its easy in Atlanta though because the media and fans don't hold the pro teams accountable.  You think Boston fans and media would let the Celtics trade Luka and then have the fanbase and media wondering about drafting Clingan over Sarr?  Nah.  The Celtics are trying to win.  The Mavericks are trying to win.  The Lakers will do anything to win.  The Hawks continue to sell rappers, the ice tray dance and low overhead so that their private equity investors are happy.  Private Equity is gonna ruin sports eventually.  Its already in the NBA and other leagues and wants to creep badly into college football.  Good for investors, bad for the fanbase.

The entire thought process of thinking the Clingan will be able to shoot is foolish to begin with.  There are literally ZERO positive indicators on his shooting.

The speed at which he's getting to the shot is the concerning thing.

1. I imagined Bogi blocking him, then 2. I said, no chance he can attack a closeout with a side step pull-up dribble. He'll try and dribble and get the ball stolen.

There is no PG at the top of any mock drafts or big boards including ones before the draft lottery.  Why would you expect any team, let alone the Hawks to draft one with the #1 pick?  Arguably the top one just announced an ACL injury on top of that.

Also, DJ Jeffries is a really good perimeter defender.  Dalton Knecht struggled more against him than any other defender he faced.  Knecht was 4 for 17 against Mississippi State in the SEC tournament.  DJ is a big reason Mississippi State was able to beat Tennessee twice this year.  In two games against MSU, Knecht made 14 shots on 35 attempts.

Offensively, DJ is a good connectivity passer.  His shooting was overall poor, but he showed flashes of some catch and shoot ability.

Chris Jans is the coach at Mississippi State, and if you don’t give effort defensively, you don’t play for him.
