Let the kid come in and play. There is already a lead guy on the team and some other talented players. This sort of thing relieves some pressure right off the bat. Play as many minutes as possible and focus on the strengths first and foremost. Try not to beat down too much on areas that need improvements.

The best thing they can do to make everyone successful next season is hit a home run with your retooling trades.  Get good players that fit for whatever vets you are trading (DJM being the most likely and most important piece to trade for good value).  Stepping into a functional team will setup our rookie for more success and they can fill a supporting role to start and go from there is the way to go.

Simplest best answer @AHF...I think the trades are infinitely as important as the player they draft.  The drafted player should be set up to transition steadily into the lineup.
