The DJM is not a hindrance to anything.

They can't even announce anything until the trade is complete which can't be completed until today. Who's to say they haven't verbally agreed to things?

Sixers pursuing Caleb Martin

Over the past several days, the Philadelphia 76ers had discussions with Martin’s representation, league sources told HoopsHype. During those conversations, Philadelphia came away believing Martin was holding out for more money elsewhere on the market. Yet, the 76ers remain interested in signing him until Martin is off the market, league sources said.

Growing sense Kings pivoting to DeMar DeRozan sign-and-trade

The Pelicans have dangled forward Brandon Ingram in trade talks, and the former No. 2 overall pick has drawn some interest, including from the Sacramento Kings. However, there was a growing sense heading into the weekend that Sacramento would pivot and try to acquire DeMar DeRozan via a sign-and-trade agreement with the Chicago Bulls, league sources told HoopsHype, and as ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported.

Why can’t they announce things?  I guess we’ll find out if they have these secret agreements for deals they are sitting on soon enough.

I don't know.  Brad Rowland was saying that in one of his podcasts. I also don't think they have secret deals. I just think they maybe adding to or from this trade and then will start making moves from there.  Smaller moves of course. 

Maybe it has something to do with the trade happening in the new league year?

They can announce just like everyone else.

To take in DJ's salary last year as the trade was, NOP would have been over the tax and lost out on the $11.9 tax disbursement from the tax paying teams.

They agreed to delay the trade until the new league year which pushes the DJ incoming salary to NOP to $28 million (trade kicker which Hawks pay but counts on NOPs salary).

The trade would then be what NOP is sending out for DJ's $28 mil.

Nance ($11), Dyson ($6), EJ ($2) to Hawks

JV ($10) in a SnT deal to Wiz.

So that portion of trade is completed and can be announced.

From what we know, there is talk of expanding the trade further since NOP is trying to move Ingram and get a Center back since they lost JV and Val. So they are looking to acquire Williams from PTL. On the BI side, a possible trade to SAC may or may not involve us in some fashion.

Brad Rowland is clueless (in general) so keep that in mind listening to him.

 

As for deals, most agents leak that information (they are one of the primary sources of player movement leaks) before trades are finalized.

"Hey Woj, Brandon is wrapping into the DJM trade and is going to Charlotte for a 2nd, they are SNT into capspace, blah ablah"

As a follow up:

If Nance is a part of the supposed Ayton deal, he has to go directly to PTL as just traded players can't be combined with another player in an immediate subsequent trade.

This is where the $23 mil JC TPE which expires July 9th (I think) comes into play. We would still have $15 million left of it since only DD and EJ would be counted towards it. I think we should still be able to create a new DJ TPE.

I was pondering the potential Allen (CLE) deal and why it sorta died on the vine.  And I remembered that I forgot Allen played for Atkinson in BKN and is a really good culture guy.  No way Kenni let's them trade Allen.

Please stop mischaracterizing Ayton. He is not a cancer or the opposite of "Hawks DNA". He gets disinterested on the court when he isn't involved in the offense, and his off-the-court habits lean more toward video games than his teams would like. But he is not a locker room cancer that you should avoid when building a new culture for your team.

It's merely a rumor, not an established fact. Moreover, we desire for this team to improve and attain greatness, and at this juncture, any assistance would be beneficial.

Ayton’s rebounding and shooting efficiency very good.  But we’re gonna skip the bad and go straight to the ugly with his total inability to stretch, get to the stripe, or play make.  Trae needs a beast of a C who can pound and stretch (that’s what she said), or at least two guys who excel at one and the other.

Believe it or not I was a big Trae fan when he had Ded and Len stretching.  He dearly needs space to restore the confidence back in his floater, drive the hole on switched Bigs, and corral a couple more crucial rebounds.
