The Hawks need to add DeRozan to this team

End point. It's what a lot of us are saying. We've seen different versions of the same group with minimal success and some good moments. It's beyond time to not be satisfied with mediocrity.

That's been my point throughout this thread. While some folks are perfectly fine with watching the young guys grow while hoping/wishing/praying/dreaming that Hunter plays more than ten games in a row before his knee flares up (again), causing him to miss the next three months, I've never been built like that. So whether it's DeRozan or someone else who has credentials (career journeymen who once averaged 12 a night in the Obama years doesn't count), more firepower is needed on this team. Not just to help them win but bring along the young guys while doing it. Having them cut their teeth on a 30-win squad while the star player broods about wanting to play on a real team doesn't look the least bit appealing to anyone caring to watch...

As expected, no substance :blanky:

Meanwhile, back on topic for rest of the squawk.

DeRozan: Yes or No?

here is a stat for you...The Hawks have won 45% of their game with Trae Young.  Guess what percentage they have won without him.  You guessed it... 45%.

We are banking on hope...that JJ and Bufkin take the next step, we get something from Zacc, a healthy Hunter, a rejuvenated CC, and OO who still can't take CC's spot, for KK to work a miracle on Dyson's shooting.

We are seeking perfection that every players exceeds their station. It's a lot to ask. The only known is Trae. We are asking him to herald a very young group and place unrealistic expectations. It'll be too easy to blame him if the targeted wins elude.

Hawks still need to add a more established player where we know what we'll get vs just HOPING.

This. SOOOOOO this.

It was brought up earlier in this thread that some of us Falcon fans hoped on the notion that Desmond Ridder was going to take the next step forward. So did his head coach, who drunk so much of the Kool-Aid that he played less in the preseason than Patrick Mahomes did. We all painfully saw how that worked out; neither work in Flowery Branch anymore.

Again, this is not to say that the young guys can't play or will never be good players. But if you're going to do this, do it with a full rebuild by moving on from at least Trae and Capela. Don't do the half-assed fvckery by banking on one of them to replace DJM's numbers while being more reliable than Hunter, or hope that OO becomes Charles Oakley overnight. As Galvatron would say, that's just bad comedy...

I wouldn't compare Young to Ridder but its not a far off analogy! 😜

Nah. When Desmond Ridder gets to a conference title game while putting up a few 4k seasons, then an apt comparison can be made. Ridder has wet dreams of having seasons like Young has...

Yeah.  But one has taken his team to an ECF...the other is on another team. As @Dejay said..Ridder dreams of being as relevant to anybody as Trae is to the Hawks.

They were winning games when Young didn't show up and a game when he was hurt against Milwaukee so it was more the team vs 1 player

Yeah people haven't learned from Murray if they want Derozan. 7 years older and even worse fit. High usage, low volume 3 point shooter on bad % not a great defender and he's about to turn 35? Wouldn't touch him with 10 foot pole.

There’s no such thing as a perfect player. We could do this song and dance with every player on our roster.

Who are we to continuously turn our nose up at star talent when we haven’t even sniffed a championship before?

Im not singling anyone out, I just get exhausted with a fanbase that always complains about any and everything and nitpicks any suggestion to add talent.

All I know is, Derozen continuously busts our ass whenever we face him. Would be nice to have a tough shot maker with size to alleviate the shot creation burden that will solely rest upon Trae next season.

Agreed. Also, what happens if Trae is injured? He’s been mostly healthy his career but we need a back up plan and it needs to be a strong one.

also, our goal should be to be top 6 in the east and avoid the play in completely.

Dude if you want to compare Trae Young to Desmond Ridder, go right ahead. Enjoy a life of solitude on that hill. Nobody cares or is going to join you on that one.

If you want to pivot (move goalposts) and now say Trae wasn’t the main reason we went to the ECF, go for it. You are so blinded by dislike that you’re losing credibility post by post. Again, your business. I’m just trying to be a friend here.
