Pardon my French but Adam Sliver is a f!ckhead who doesn’t respect 🫡 MLK or his history. Somebody do that against his people they are shunned. Lame 😒

I do think the league disrespects the city of Atlanta's connection with MLK.  I think it's pretty shameful.

But they celebrate Mempis because hebwas killed there?  That makes nonsense.

FYI - National Football championship game is that same day…

...However, MLK game is typically a day game around 3PM, so enough time between the games.

This is blasphemy on two ends

The NBA for doing this, and the Hawks for agreeing to this.

All to keep a somewhat dying Trae vs Knicks fans rivalry alive?

The one home game that Hawks fans know they'll have every year, and they take it away from us?

But they GUARANTEE a home game for Mempis so they can celebrate where MLK died.

Guarantee it.

Make it make sense, cyde.

5-5 most likely, but I wouldn't be surprised to see us open as good as 7-3.

The Hawks could make this really ugly, really fast for the NBA if they wanted to do so.  They need to put their foot down on MLK Day.  This isn't the first time the Hawks have been shafted with it.  MLK's roots are in Atlanta more than anywhere else and the man is venerated in the city.  I can't imagine why the Hawks just take this instead of letting the NBA know that a storm is coming if they don't get their home game to celebrate Dr. King.

The Hawks shouldn't have to make things ugly but how hard is it to envision coverage coming from the King Center with Hawks personnel lamenting the disrespect shown by the league to King's home town on his day of mourning and celebration?  It should really be a win/win with the league promoting King's Atlanta ties.  We've already got the amazing court and uniforms to bring out for the day.

As far as I can tell, we've had an MLK Day home game every season for the past 25+ years.  So the NBA knows MLK day belong in Atlanta... this season is clearly an anomaly and I imagine there's a reason for it, potentially something to do with the CFB championship game

When's the last time we had a home game on mlk day?

When's the last time Mempis didn't?

Y’all, chill.

Atlanta is hosting the College Football Championship Game on MLK Day 2025. Whether you care about college football or not the entire downtown area is going to be focused on that. It would be an even bigger issue trying to justify fans having to get in to State Farm will all that fanfare, tailgating, media, etc., taking place next door. It was the right thing to have us playing on MLK Day even though we aren’t hosting.

It’s one year, we will be fine lol
