New BBRef Similarity Scores Finally Released!

They had a two year hiatus updating their system I guess.  The best historic player comparison tool going.  Attention @AHF and @NBASupes, I know most of the board doesn’t care about this sh!t

Here’s the core:

A nice approximation of Bogi.  Digging the Stinger showing.  Quite flawed player who’s very smart and instinctual, best illustrated by Smart, McConnell, and Connaughton.

 

Jalen gets dinged here by games missed but it’s promising.  Covington, Oubre, and Isaac are all solid.  I would’ve taken Aldama over Jalen in the draft.   On paper it’s dumb but based on team needs the jury is still out on that one.

 

So many off guards or pass first PGs who don’t sniff Trae’s usage outside of World B Free.  It’s like he was transported in a Time Machine from the ABA era.

Clyde Drexler and Ray Allen were removed from a couple years ago.  Stockton, by far his career best score, gone after his third season.  Billy Knight lol.

Clint is heavy.  Horford, Embiid, and Noah are all you need to see.  Defensive IQ and willingness to help one of the most underrated of his era.

 

OO is a hard player to gauge with his super efficient but low volume shooting, bench role, and high end team defense.  Cliff Robinson and Grant Long the highlights, Alex English the “wtf!”

Pretty much my evaluation of Dre in a nutshell.  So many meh minutes.  Who the hell are these people.  The only ones I know are Rasual Butler and Dead Wade, two guys Dre would have to beat out for minutes

Marbury is better but he's worse. His fit issues are massive whereas I think if you put the right players around Trae, we could see him have a breakthrough year. 

JJ and Dre scores just are much lower than what I truly think of either but I know why their scores are what they are

My favorite comparison is Bogi and Ty Stinger Mike Glenn.  Indeed!
