KB21
There is a reason the Grizzlies didn't want Gooden, and now Orlando doesn't want Gooden. It was pretty well known that the guy Doc Rivers wanted Orlando to get in the Mike Miller trade was Stromile Swift. Gooden is a tweener who has an attitude problem. I doubt he ever develops into a starter in the NBA.

Premium Member Diesel Posted April 6, 2004 Author Premium Member Report Share Posted April 6, 2004 IN Christies rookie year, he average 14.1 mpg... In Diaw's rookie year, he averaged 25.2 mpg... Now, let's put it back into perspective... Diaw 4.5 PPG 4.5 RPG 2.3 APG 0.5 BPG 1.6 TO/G shooting .437 FG% and .240 3P% Christie 6.2 PPG 2.2 RPG 2.3 APG 0.2 BPG 2.2 TOG .425 FG% .167 3P% Rookie coming from Europe or no, there's nothing that impressive about Diaw's numbers when you recognize that he plays almost twice as many minutes per game as Christie played. Yes, Doug Christie would be a great goal for Diaw to reach... Meaning that Diaw is not on the same track as Christie... Coming into the league, those 3pt% numbers are those because Christie only attempted 12 3 pt shots in his rookie season. In his sophomore season, he shot 119 3 pters and hit 33% of his threes. As far as Diaw goes.... We have to look at need. Diaw is the exact opposite of what we need. We need a big man that can run. If Not Gooden, then Swift... If not Swift then Kwame (with a little more to the package). The point is that Diaw is a halfcourt motion offense specialist who isn't aggressive and we are a running team.
