Plainview1981
41% is a good shooter? Since when did that happen? JT's shot gets worse year by year. 33%3's is good? Almost any guard can shoot 33% in 3's. JT's potential ran out 3 seasons ago. He turned out to be a bust as a lotto pick and if Knight keeps him it leads me to suspect even more that Knight is a fool. You can't win with the worst defensive player in the NBA starting and playing 30MPG+ There isn't even enough players to build a respectable team with in the FA's. You can't get Kobe or Kenyon(Unless the Hawks offer him the max and nobody else does) and the rest are bottom feeder scrubs like Q.
Moderators macdaddy Posted April 19, 2004 Moderators Report Share Posted April 19, 2004 Stats don't tell the whole story. Are you trying to make the case that the more NBA experience JT gets the worse his shooting becomes. That's BS. His % sux because he's playing on a horrible team playing YMCA ball and he's jacking up shots he'd never take if it mattered. A bust as a lottery pick may be true but he is no scrub. JT can be a great asset to a good team. He's no superstar but he's far from worthless. The problem with a lot of these posts is that if a player is not Kobe or Tmac then they are scrubs. A solid team can be built without a superstar or you can sit around and whine that we don't get the number 1 pick every year. I guarantee that despite the 'weak' draft and nothin' but scrub free agents we will be a much improved team next year. And, at this point that's all we can ask for. Plainview1981
No stats don't tell the whole story and that's the problem. You don't see how bad JT's defense is in his profile stats. JT's shooting is declining because he gets more and more inconsistant year by year. Not to mention his shot selection is poor most of the time. JT should be playing 25MPG off the bench at the most. cyman3
I picked random guys to compare JT JTs FG % is .417, 3PT % is .347 Hes better than (fg % and 3pt %) - BARON DAVIS is .395 and .321 many peop have in as a top 10 candidate of the MVP award. - the best PG currently, JASON KIDD, is .384 and .321 - STEVE FRANCIS is at .403 and .292 * STEPHON MARBURY is .431 and .318 (jasons better at 3s while stephon got him in the fg %). Hes not better than (fg and 3pt %) - MIKE BIBBY is .450 and .392 - SAM CASSELL is at .488 and .398 - GARY PAYTON is at .471 and .333 - STEVE NASH is at .470 and .405 CONCLUSION? JT's fg % is slightly below average for a PG. While it isint horrible for PG standards, it could improve. However, his 3pt % is above average for a point guard. Plainview1981
The difference between JT and Baron is that Baron(although still isn't a good shooter) has to carry his team. JT's never carried anybody to anything. Kidd the difference is he can defend and pass. JT can't do either. Kidd more than makes up for his libilities while JT really doesn't. Francis is pretty bad shooter. He's not really a PG either.
