Only Questionable pick is Royal Ivey??

Does anybody no why we drafted this kid? Is there something I missed. I had absolutely no pre-draft information on this kid.

I saw him play against North Carolina in the tournament and was not impressed at all. His handles were very shaky and he didn't run the team smoothly at all.

I trust in Billy Knight, but I am clueless on this pick.

Anyone have any insight on why we drafted him and not the 7'4" Korean or Duhon or Pickett?

Apparently he's supposed to be excellent on defense.. He'll be a good role player in a few years, probably nothing more.

I would definitely have gone after Pickett if our philosophy was going to be to pick the best player available.

Ivey was at a workout with Gordon, Livingston, Nelson, Harris and another guy, and evidently impressed Knight with his defense on the other big name point guards. It was said that Livingston couldn't even get his shot off on him and he is 6'7...

Ivey had two workouts with the Hawks. He impressed them enough in his first workout that they brought him in again. They brought him in when they worked out Ben Gordon, Jameer Nelson, Devin Harris, and Shaun Livingston. The word on the workout was that Ivey more than held his own defensively against the guys. In the one on one drills and the two on two drills, all four of the first round point guards had trouble getting their shots off against Ivey.

Ivey is coming in with the reputation of being a great defender. He's 6'3" with long arms and very good athleticism.
