eliable sources have confirmed today that Manu Ginobili has been offered a 6 year contract with the Denver Nuggets. Ginobili is a restricted free agent whose rights are owned by the San Antonio Spurs and if he indeed decides to sign the offer sheet they will have until July 29th to match. The offer is believed to start at $9 million dollars"

This confirms the stupidity of GM's.

This sure makes me feel a lot better about the Nash signing. At least Nash is a proven 2 time All-Star. Manu is more like a 6th man and his contract is almost as large as Nash's. This is the new economics of free agency. If you Hawks fans think you are going to sign a decent FA without overpaying, you are in for a rude awakening.

It's getting to the point where role players are getting close to 10 million per year. All-Stars with max or near-max contracts look like relative bargains when you pay a role player like Manu $9 million/year.

These GMs are flat out overspending. These teams are going to be in the same situation the Hawks were in last year....strapped and not able to make any moves to improve their team because of the cap. Let them keep spending and see the Hawks past them right by in the standings and financially in years to come.
