Taken from the ESPN Hawks message board. One guy is saying Two live Stews reported that the Hawks signed Dampier 5 yrs. $42M. No links from any news source yet. Keep your ears open.

I was listening to the Stews earlier and Doug said that he has heard from a reliable source that it is a done deal. He didn't mention any numbers, I figured he was just tryin to scoop everybody.

That doesn't sound too bad...especially considering the market this summer.

This means our lineup stands roughly as follows:

PG- J. Terry / Royal Ivey

SG- J. Childress / T. Hansen / Donta Smith

SF- Diaw / C. Crawford / Josh Smith

PF- Al Harrington / Al. Henderson

C- Dampier / Collier

with basically every player but Dampier able to play multiple positions.

Given the market and our needs, I consider this a great signing for the hawks. Hopefully Woodson can instill good fundamentals and get us running right ASAP.

well i'm hoping we didn't pay him more than 8 mill/year honestly cuz i really don't think he'll be that good...he maybe will give us a doubledouble average which is good, i just don't want to overpay for him... the less years the better.

double double isn't bad. The bottom line is you need a big thick center who can play. Otherwise you get DESTROYED by teams with a real C. So he fills that need . Nobody expects him to be a superstar, but he can be damn good

Still watching ESPN and haven't heard anything confirming this. Hopefully it is happening and will be announce soon.After we get Damp, do we (1)stand pat with Damp, Collier, and Hendu as our centers, and then go after veteran point guard help? (2)Sign Pryz to add another 7' footer and go with JT Ivey running our point. Will we have anymore Cap room to do both?
