Bulldog
http://www.cbs.sportsline.com/nba/story/7681034 CBS are reporting a rumoured Kidd for Abdur-Rahim trade. Although other players will be involved it seems like a good fit for the Nets. They will not challenge for the title this year as Martin is gone and Kittles is gone. So they might as well rebuild. In Abdur Rahim they get flexibility as it is the last year of his deal, so they could let his $15m come off the cap next year. If the deal is done however the Blazers must have to make further moves or they will have Kidd, Damon Stoudemire, Van Exel and Telfair at PG. The obvious one to move is Stoudemire as they have just traded for Van Exel who can also play the 2. But it still seems an odd one for Portland. Plainview1981
It looks to me like Shareefs fate is sealed. He will never be on a winning team it looks like.
Admin capstone21 Posted September 15, 2004 Admin Report Share Posted September 15, 2004 I was thinking the same thing. He just can't seem to be on a winning team. Next season he should sign with a team like Miami. He would take a major pay cut but he could be a missing piece that the Heat could really use. Wade Jones R. jezmund
Could we afford to pick up Van Exel for a season? CC for Van Exel? Saves Portland some cash. NVE/Childress/Al/Walker/???
Weez
the question is would you want him for a season...the answer which, in my mind, is a resounding NO. if you need a combo guard/scoring in the backcourt (like say...Brent Barry type, or even Diaw) and your team is on the cusp of doing great things/making a serious push...then yes, he'd be great. but you know what NVE has never liked? losing. or struggling. not to the point of trying to overcome that stigma...but when it doesn't work out...he doesn't play as much, won't play through injuries, bitches and moans...becomes more selfish... we're not in a position to have thta sort of player on our team. Boondocks
How about Mouse though? He's in the last yr of his deal too so he wouldn't damage our capspace, would upgrade the PG slot and he seems to have come around off the court too. Packfill
I wonder if NJ is asking for Telfair - his inclusion in the trade could really help mitigate fan negativity by bringing Telfair home. May be a hard pill for Portland to swallow but if they trade for Kidd you have to beleive they intend to use him as the centerpiece of the team for at least two to three years, so Telfair would be riding the pine anyway. Bulldog
...but he is also 31, is owed $90m and is coming off knee surgery. And the team has no chance of the title. so the Nets want to get rid of him. If other teams dont want to take a $90m gamble on him then they have to take back less value. Eeeee
And once again, the Blazers are capping themselves senseless to try and buy themselves a quick championship contender do they ever learn?
