Premium Member Diesel Posted February 7, 2005 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 7, 2005 What we take from this deal is Robert Swift. This guy is the HSer that may have come out too early. However, he's big. He's a legitimate 7 footer and he has good foot work. I think this gives Seattle 2 things. Hope that they can go farther in the playoffs and capspace to help them compete for Allen in the offseason. The hit we take is we take back Fortson. He's not a starter so we can play him and Smoove at alternating times. But we get a future with Swift?? Atlanta trades: PF Antoine Walker (19.9 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 3.8 apg in 40.2 minutes) Atlanta receives: C Robert Swift (0.4 ppg, 0.1 rpg, 0.3 apg in 3.5 minutes) PF Danny Fortson (8.7 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 0.2 apg in 17.8 minutes) C Vitaly Potapenko (1.1 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 0.0 apg in 4.3 minutes) Change in team outlook: -9.7 ppg, -1.9 rpg, and -3.3 apg. Packfill
I remember reading something prior to the draft that he was closer to 6'9" then 7'. I rather have a guy like Kendrick Perkins (they are not trading Jefferson) as he is a little more ready to contribute. Not sure their contract status, but other guys to look at are back-up bigs in Charlotte Melvin Ely and Jamal Sampson, Gadzuric from Wilwaukee, and Brendan Haywood.
