What is it about this site that keeps the quality of posts so high by comparison?

lol, me and hawksfanatic aren't really fans of each other. We're both head-strong and I hate on him sometimes and like wise. He wants to block me and complain to Dolfan about me and I go in on him F2F but as a person outside of just Hawks, he's a smart guy. Would I hang out with him? Not a chance in hell but I respect him. Simple as that.

I don't really post in the forum often but I'm usually here on gameday chats, but yeah I definitely love the place and never thought Hawks would have such a good community. And it's only rising with the recent success

The Hawks and Bud are trying to build the team around the concept that has been

a part of Hawksquawk for quiet some time.

 

Hawks are trying to build with players with a high basketball IQ.  In reality, that is

the same formula here.  Build with a fan base with a high basketball IQ.

 

We don't always agree.  In fact, many seldom agree as already noted here.  But,

and that's a very big word, most posters here are above average in their ability

to think and reason things out.

 

We have mods who try to keep the weeds from growing in our garden here and they

do a good job.  All this together means - - we're a pretty nice place to meet!

The strength of Hawksquawk lies in highly opinionated and passionate Hawks fans being allowed to express their opinions about the team.

The mods do a great job at not suppressing opinions and not letting things get out of control when people disagree.

To me though, the debates on here are epic, and keeps me on this site, even when I may take breaks in participating in a debate myself.

We have a great community here. There's no other place I can think of that has been around this long and has so many veteran posters still active and, usually, friendly and civil with each other. I credit the members and especially the staff and mods.

 

The zero tolerance for getting into it with other posters is IMO the best decision Dolf ever made. Now you either have to argue your point or just refrain from insulting someone.

Being long suffering Hawks fans will do that.

 

I'm gonna say it's a combination of these two.  Especially what JayBird says.  I mean, before the rebirth this year, who the hell just decides to be a Hawks fan?  lol  Nobody.  So, by default, the people who post here are true fans that genuinely give a damn about the team.

 

With that also comes a certain level of humility (for the most part anyway).  This IS the Atlanta Hawks we're talking about here.  If you're fan enough to follow this team...then you're probably not walking around like a typical entitled/juvenile Celtics, Lakers, Bulls, or LeBron fan.  People who follow the Hawks are serious fans, and down to earth people, that are going to stick with the team.  Hence the longevity here, which in itself makes for a more mature crowd.

Well you were amongst that "hyuk hyuk" crowd last summer believing that all of those original barbs about the roster construction were so fresh and so new.  You fancied yourself the venerable class clown that got everyone to laugh with you until I made a few replies here and there that made you look like just a clown and everyone was laughing at you.  That I displayed such levels of snarkiness the likes you've never seen with nary the use of a single gif. sent you down a spiraling vendetta filled road of sneak-dissing and sub-shading by liking any post where a poster disagreed with me.  I've been quite touched actually, during the beginning of your crusade I said to myself "man, who is this person?  They seem to really have it out for me" then I said "meh, this is probably how it feels to be Diesel as he walks out to his sprawling venetian gardens, silk robes flowing and bowl of cheerios in hand.  It elicits but a small smile as he feeds ambrosia to his pet peacock."

I really liked the Hawksquawk community and I don't really mind if someone insults or criticize me.. they can't stop me from following and supporting the team.

I think a lot has to do with the format and functionality. Very user-friendly and having stuff like the chat room is awesome. (Even though i havent been able to make it in there much lately myself.) I guess big kudos to @Dolfan23 for that.

Another big part is the great cornerstone posters. @lethalweapon3 has awesome game posts; there is really no point in looking anywhere else. Fantastic job and a great service for this community. @hawksfanatic is a genius and his ability to be an a-hole while educating you creates some form of internet-based Stockholm syndrome that keeps us all coming back hoping to learn more and be more personally knowledgeable. @Gray Mule giving his thoughts and opinions based on decades of experience and fandom. @JayBirdHawk not only gives us the female perspective but is also famous for keeping it real with no bs or fluff. @Spud2Nique is great for providing comic relief, followed up by @kg01 and @MaceCase. @Diesel with the spurts of random posts required to keep his post count up. And even guys like @Hotlanta1981 and @Alex provide a negativity that the universe apparently dictates that we must have. (Every yin must have a yang, I guess. Every yummy box of chocolates has to have one or two gross pieces filled with gross strawberry fluff. ) Plus all of the passionate fans that come and post all of the latest info here so it is a one stop shop for all Hawks news.

Great stuff. Love this site even though i dont post too much.

What fanatic touched on is key: no advertisements or pop-ups keep the weirdos, attention whores, and trolls away for the most part. But basically we're just an intelligent groupthink. Dol is a G for not demanding money out our broke asses and lets face it, Lethal is The Man. Our very own Bud and Al if you will (not the 2 points in elimination game Al, The Bawse one)

All of the failures of the past has taught us what NOT to do, although we may have many questions and debates in terms of what's best for our beloved AHBC going forward. I think it's a unanimous agreement on the upgrade at wing and C. Hopefully some stability can give us a clearer view of how to move forward.

Our board is the sh$t though. This past season has done a lot for the morale and comraderey here, I feel like this is my Hawk family. When I educate the ignorant on the Hawks, I always gotta give the consensus opinion here to rep for the board. I cannot believe that at least one high ranking administrator of the Hawks doesn't check in regularly. How cool would it be for Bud to take a funny quote from here and share it in film or during Bread Breaking? The only player we know for 100% sure never read this board is Josh.

My sole purpose for joining 7 years ago was to Joe Bash and clash with exodus' kind. I did, and it was fun. I'm all rose-covered glasses now.
